Hi all. The stock recovery points (I have a 2018 JLUS) appear to be attached to the frame both front & rear. Do we know if they are suitable for a kinetic recovery or should they be replaced?

Thanks

I’ve had zero issues with the factory recovery points and have no intention of changing them.
Of course you’re going to get people telling you they are extremely dangerous because they are not “closed’ loops. Then they’ll tell you whatever Factory 55 told them.

FWIW, I watched a RAM 1500 get pulled out of some snow using a kinetic rope via the factory recovery points (Open hooks) and there were no issues.

There is no way Jeep put those on there for "looks". Use em.

Thanks for the reply. I tend to agree with you on the closed loop. The open hook seems to make sense for people who don't do recoveries for a living as it's a quicker option that can eliminate the need for additional gear like bow shackles. It also seems quite improbable that a strap or soft shackle would work itself backward under load, but what do I know. It might fall off when there is no tension on the line but that is more of a PITA rather than a safety concern (unless the vehicle being recovered is dangling by the strap over a pit of lava).

That being said it's nice to hear that the factory points are up to the task.
