well i ought to find out next week. we head out Friday. aim to be at the Loon Lake trail head Tuesday morning. im hoping with all the bfg stuff and the jamboree coming that the trails in decent shape. we have completed it twice before, but it is a different trail each time. i think the JL will give it a good run. keeping her pretty will be the tough part.

:like::like:Years ago I ran it ina stock tj rubicon. It did just fine the jl will do great. Takes lots of pictures and post them.

Yes ! My new JLUR is more capable than the built CJ7 I rolled on the Rubicon (Scotch induced) before they had a model named Rubicon. Don't drink and drive!

Wish some clubs enforced that more. It's disappointing when every other rig has a cold one between there legs.

For anyone who has ever done this trail, or has an opinion ;), do you think the new JL Rubicon stock, with steel bumpers of course, would make it?
On a related note, is there anything like this in the NE US or Eastern Canada?

Stock Rubicon on Rubicon trail, lot of good support crew for spotting etc.:

Stock Rubicon on Rubicon trail, lot of good support crew for spotting etc.:

I saw that one, lots of screaching skid plates... Very impressed by how well they do though.

Check out the lite brite postings on youtube. They have a new Rubicon that they beat the hell out of on the trails in CO.
The under carriage really got beat to hell, but otherwise they did great. They did keep adding bigger tires as they took on the different trails..

As word302 has stated, the First production Rubicon TJ made it through in stock form, hence how it got its name.

I doubt it is any less capable today as it was back then.

It is also worthy to note the trail does change from seasonal and weather influences.
Actually, the Rubicon was called that because that was the requirement. The engineering team that built the Rubicon used that as the metric which is what they sold Jeep brass on, The Rubicon was the test bed. The requirement was: Must do Rubicon trail in OEM form, no mods outside of the engineering envelope and it had to be cheap. IIRC the only thing outsourced was the Japanese Lockers and that was because there was not mfg in the US that could meet the demand and the long-time product supply. Other than that it all came out of Chrysler and Mercedes (the steering unit) Van.
