Does anyone know how to reset or calibrate the steering wheel position sensor on the JL? I'm not referring to the manual drag link adjustment, I'm referring to electronics. This is what I found in general for "modern" vehicles, but I'm not sure which one applies to the JL or if it can be reset or calibrated at all on the JL.

Resetting Steering Wheel Sensors

There are three types of reset procedures, systems that self calibrate on their own, vehicles that require specific wires or buttons be pressed and, systems that require recalibration with a scan tool.

Self-Calibration - Some newer vehicles can auto calibrate by having the wheel turned from lock to lock and then centered and cycling the key.

Scan Tool Steering Angle Sensor Reset - There are many options for scan tools to reset SASs. Some tools are even integrated into an alignment system. But, most tools recommend that the calibration be performed on a level surface. Also, it is a good idea to perform a lock-to-lock turn to complete the calibration.

Not sure what you’re trying to get to, if you have a proper scanner and or a proper Wiitech tool that allows you to. It’ll prompt on screen directions on what to do and only then will the “calibration” when it asks to perform full left, full right, full left and back to center. Actually save so unless you have a very nice scan tool you’re better off going to the dealer. If you attempt it and fail you’ll have all kind of codes and lost communicates codes set

I came across this very old thread by googling my issue and figured I'd post here for the next guy: Resetting the steering position can be done by resetting the ABS module, I did so using JScan.

For reference, here are the trouble codes I had in an Advanced scan. Clearing the codes does nothing.

Trouble codes reported by:
Adaptive Cruise Control
U 0415-00
invalid data received from anti-lock brake system (abs) control

active Adaptive Cruise Control
C0063-9A
yaw rate sensor-component or system operating conditions

active Adaptive Cruise Control
C2227-00
abs disabled ecu-
active Adaptive Cruise Control

Trouble codes reported by:
Anti Lock Brakes
C0051-28
(ABS)
steering wheel position sensor - signal bias level out of range / zero adjustment failure
steering wheel position sensor-signal bias level out of range /zero adjustment failure
active, warning lamp Anti Lock Brakes
