After 2.5 years of ownership, today I discovered that I am able to turn my wheels when all power to the vehicle is off. Cycled through starts and cut offs a few times and was able to completely (no power) turn the wheels left and right. Every other vehicle I’ve owned automatically locks the wheel when turned off. This would be very troubling if this were MT. is this the norm? 2020 JLU

This is normal on any car I've had with push button start. An electric steering lock failure would not be a good thing.

Same with mine, no steering wheel lock. I guess with no actual key tumbler, there's not a good way to lock the wheel without relying on more electronics (aka solenoid to set a lock). Funny how technology ends up creating its own problems...

So you can find a MT model , have another vehicle with a tow strap and it’s gone in 15 seconds… Seems way too easy.

This is a reason the Wrangler is popular for flat-towing behind RVs.
Yup, Wranglers have not had locking steering wheels in years.

More than 10 years since Wranglers had steering wheel locks.
