Well whatever they did, it didn't fix the issue. I have another appointment with the Dealership and I have messaged @JeepCares to get them involved.

My wife just had this happen to her on Friday morning and again this morning. Both times temperature was in the low 30's. She was going around 60mph turning left and both times the steering locked up. Pretty scary. Jeep is a 18 sport unlimited.

This just happened to me. Temp was 28f outside. Jeep was warmed up. In a slight left hand curve in the road and the steering got stuck. I was driving maybe 40-45mph

Have they figured this out?

I am not sure they have it completely figured out yet, but The dealership that I took my Jeep to just called and said they think it's the "steering rack." I am pretty sure Wranglers don't use rack and pinion steering so I have no idea what they are replacing. I tried to call them back to get better info but now I can't get a hold of my service advisor. I will let you know what I find out when I talk to him. We will see if whatever they are replacing takes care of my problem. It seems like each person that has this issue gets a different "fix."

I finally got a hold of the service advisor, I guess he meant the steering gear. So that is what they are replacing.

Well it's back again this year. Did it on the way home from work today. It's been in the mid 30's all day. I park in the garage so I didn't experience it on the way to work, but after sitting in the cold temps it did it on the way home until it got warmed up.

I experienced several instanced of momentary lockup (about 1/2 of sec or so) of the wheel while in a curve. I have 2019 JL Rubicon. It is very unpleasant. It has ~7500 miles.

it would be interesting to know if folks experiencing this have any "play" in the steering. this is usually described as a dead spot left and right in the steering (while driving straight ahead), such that the wheels don't actually turn until you rotate the steering wheel through the dead spot. the theory is that steering boxes that are adjusted too tight (no play) might be creating a binding issue when the temperature drops (thermal contraction of the metals used in the box).

Did you have any play in your steering in warm weather? It will be interesting to see if they fix is simply a looser gearbox.

I personally have about a 1" dead spot / play in hot/warm weather and now in the cold weather i'd say it's at least 0.25" better.

I can't say that I noticed any play/dead spots that were any different from my JK.

Hi WalkingJL and John,
We're sorry to hear that you have both experienced a steering concern. Should you decide to visit your dealers, feel free to send us a PM. We'd be happy to connect you with a Case Specialist to assist.

I took mine in for steering bind. They did the recall on steering stabilizer. Thatā€™s it. I told them about the tsb but they said my jeep was updated and flash wouldnā€™t work. Frustrated as hell. Only happens when itā€™s 30 degrees out. Now their saying it has to be happening at the dealer. I live in Mississippi weather is not consistently cold. Pisses me off.

I have joined the club. When it's cold out, the first few minutes I'm driving, the steering wheel won't turn unless I force it, which results in over-steer. Looks like I'll be taking my rig to the dealer even though I'd rather not have them touch it!
