Took mine in to my local CDJR dealer today (not where I bought it) and had a very pleasant experience. The service writer came out and reviewed the problem. I told him that at highway speeds the vehicle drifts to the left, enough that if you take your eyes off the road for a couple seconds and check the rear view mirror it's encroaching on the left lane. I told him there was also a dead spot between 11 oclock and 1 oclock where nothing happens. He acted like he never heard of this issue before so I told him that Chrysler is aware of the issue because there's a TSB out on it at which point I handed him the TSB. I told him that I was aware that the 2021 models had a steel steering box while the 18/19/20 models have an aluminum one that is apparently the problem. He said OK I'll have the technician look at it and we'll get back to you. I went to the waiting room and did the appropriate thing, waited. He came out about 30 minutes and said "Yup, you know what you're talking about". The technician observed the problem and that they were going to take care of it under warranty. The necessary repair parts will be ordered and should be in in a couple weeks. OK then, thank you very much! I also just found out the the dealership has just sold to one of the largest dealer chains in the area and the new owners are very big on keeping customers, particularly service customers happy. Don't know if that had anything to do with it but I'll take it! I'll report back when the upgrade is completed.

I had the change done on 11/6. Drives much straighter now. Steering is heavier though. I have adjustable lower control arms that were installed prior to this to try and make it track better. I might turn this back to a little less caster now. I am at 6.9 left and 7.0 right.
Worth doing doing in my opinion. I can let go of the steering wheel and it goes straight down the road. Drives like my 2012 does that I sold to a friend.

I finally finished up the whole ā€œprocessā€. After the dealership taking forever to acknowledge the issue/TSB and then finally ordered my parts/installed/completed the work... plus having to bring it back to have the steering wheel straightened out... my 2020 Rubicon JL drives tons better.

For some reason my dealership refuses to think this work does anything to improve/fix the steering issues we all had/have (they were very salty throughout the whole process). They wanted to know my feedback after the fix and I told them it worked great. They proceeded to tell me that they have two technicians plus a gladiator owner saying it didnā€™t help them at all. Oh well, it helped me and countless others out there, so I know Iā€™m not crazy!

I love driving my Jeep now. And a big thanks to everyone in the thread along with @JeepCares. All the info provided here plus the relentless work @JeepCares put in to get a dealership (that resisted the whole way) to get this done (and believe me, they definitely didnā€™t want to do it), really helped me get through all this craziness.

Dekin, glad it worked out and the BS you had to go through was worth it, a shame so many have had dealers make this so hard on their customers :(

Dealer telling me this is on part restriction and they canā€™t even order it until early December! Is anyone also having this issue and do I need to contact Jeep?

I went to my dealer in Lockport, NY yesterday. They examined the Jeep and told me they couldn't order the "rack" until 11/29/2020.

So i have had mine in for about 400 miles now, and i can say this has definitely improved the steering on my JLUR, and i am offering kudos to Juneks in Spearfish SD, their service department and service manager are Top Notch, they have given me great service and the techs are very good ... @jeepwave please take note of this ...

Yep same story here. Had mine in three weeks ago and finally got the dealership to agree to do the TSB (long story...). Said they are on national backorder and they can only get one steering box per couple weeks. There is a line of people waiting for them and they told me they would be able to provide a better ETA 5 weeks after my appointment. So I will follow up in a couple weeks to see of there are any updates.

Great to see that FCA finally admits there is an issue!

Cheers.

There's hearsay that the restriction on ordering has very recently gone from one every two weeks to one a month. I sure hope that is fake news.

Johnny

Yea...I have heard this as well unfortunately but fingers crossed. I have been chasing this problem since day one 2.5 years ago and anxious for a real fix!

Cheers.

Sounding like a broken record here but after being denied at the Hilltop Jeep, I took it to Berkeley Jeep and they agreed that the TSB should be followed so Iā€™m in line to hopefully get the part in December. My steering isnā€™t bad compared to others so I donā€™t mind waiting.
