My wife has been complaining about this for a while but I have never noticed it till today. There is a strange clicking noise when you turn left. Also at speed, around 50, if you are going around a right hand sweeper and then try and turn left out of it , the steering sticks. You have to apply a lot of pressure to get it back in shape which is concerning. Got a video of the clicking noise to show dealer because it doesn’t always happen.
Anybody have any ideas what could be causing this ? Going to take it to the dealer as I am concerned about being caught off guard by this and being forced off the road.

Check your door jamb sticker and see what your build date is. The JLs built at the very end of January are under recall for a faulty steering intermediate shaft.

Did you figure out what was wrong with your steering? I am having the same issue. The dealer can not reproduce it so they are not willing to do anything.

It's the ball joints. Mine had same issues.

But unfortunately with mine the tech didnt own a Torque wrench and over torqued them and now I have other issues. If it is done to specs it should be fine. Good luck

I have had the same clicking noise when turning for months. The dealership hasn’t been able to identify what’s causing it. They already replaced the ball joints and the tie rod ends and it’s still making the same noise. Hoping someone figures out the cause soon.

I also have the same problem. My steering is sometimes clicking and when it does that at a certain point it will stick for 3-5 seconds. This has happened now for the 6th time in a year and is really dangerous. I went to the dealer 3 times and the car stayed there for test drives all together 6 weeks, but they could not find anything. I even recorded the clicking and showed the dealer, but they say that if they do not see it happening they are not able to help. So now I am stuck with an unsafe Car which my wife is not willing to drive anymore because the clicking can get back any moment in time and at that moment the steering wheel will get stuck again for 3-5 seconds. Who has advice what to do with this. My wrangler is a 2018 sport unlimited.

Hi Borski, when was the last time you were at the dealership for this? What one do you work with? Feel free to send us a private message if you'd like to discuss further.

Hi Kaitlin, thanks for your message. I do not know if I am now reply privately, but I am working with Jeep Stevens Creek in San Jose and they in August requested expert support from Jeep Chrysler HQ, but they did not get it. The dealer even proposed to HQ to do a trade in. But now I have proof that the steering is not working correctly and is really dangerous, so what I do not understand that they do not act. I can send you the recording - every time I move the steering wheel to the right it gives a click and as said before after so many clicks it will block for 3-5 seconds in any circumstances. Can you help me out here
