I had to grind both ends of the lower steel bushing until it fit.

Wow, hadn't see or heard of that. No issues here. Wonder why there's a difference?

Snug is good, I used a small pice of thick plywood as a drift and knocked it into place with a hammer. I have RockKrawler but same deal front and rear.

NO heck no, you don't want to do that, grab and adjustable wrench and fit it over the lip of the bracket and pull so you widen it. You wont hurt anything, Ive had to do it a few times and was worried that I'd wreck the axle but you wont.

I didn't think it was going to go either but it will.
ill give it another shot another day then seems like everyone has gotten it in... I’m just worried about disconnecting when I’m going off-road.

The end with the flag nut or the opposite side?
one side was easy the other side i used a dead blow hammer to line the edge up then drove it in with a hammer and drift block. Front and rear are swapped sides so i don't remember which end.

I also had to pry it back out for adjustments and then final torque. This is with a Rock Krawler, so it might be different.

I loosly fit the easy end in with bolt started and had wife turn steering wheel which helped line it up.

Bend it out more, you won't break it and once you torque it to spec it will be easy to remove and reattach, what happened is that it got over torqued at the factory and narrowed the bracket.
