you can run it on US plates for 6 months, several of my friends are Us forces and dont usually get a problem, dont worry about the MOT its really not that hard to get passed, the only potential issue will be if you are looking to keep it here indefinately , in which case you would need to switch the headlights for some that comply with the UK laws ( easy when you are in one of the jeep clubs, just switch them for the test day) bumpers and wheels wont be a problem, we have 2 heavily modified JKs and a JLUR and all would pass with no problem, technically the test isnt required until a vehicle is 3 years old although that might be a little different for a new import ( if its staying) i also understand the guys in the US forces have some kind if dispensation with their vehicles here, see alot running around on US plates way longer than 6 months.

Well, I got rid of the nasty Euro bumper and fitted a Warn Elite.

It definitely looks good, and its great to get rid of that piece of plastic.

At the same time I added w Warn Tabor 10.5 winch.

Many thanks to Jeepey for the parts and advice.

Hi Mark, nice upgrades. I have a steel bumper and winch waiting to go on mine. Can I just ask....

Has the extra weight at the front resulted in any ā€˜sagā€™? Or did you add a lift?

Happy to see that you managed to retain the front sensors, I want to do the same....are these position sensitive? My bumper is narrower than yours.

Sorry, one more question...

Do you have a solution for mounting the front number plate?

Thanks for the kind words.

No the bumper and winch has not added any sag at all, so there was no need to add any lift........

The sensors are in the same relative positions as the old ones, so they are working well.

Andy at Jeepey got one for me, and it sits on the winch very securely, and when you want to use the winch, just pull the mount off.

The part from Jeepey is:

Front License Plate Mounting Bracket (11238.07 / JM- 02771 / Rugged Ridge) Ā£51

Thanks for the replies. Thatā€™s good news about the lack of sag.

The number plate bracket looks good too. Nice job all round.

:thumbsup

so I have a Spartacus Front bumper being fitted in a couple of weeks.

I would really love the non-Europe OEM though, is this a non-starter?

There a number of sites you could source the OE bumper from in the States, of course youā€™re then into shopping costs and VAT. Quadratec, for example, list the bumper here...

https://www.quadratec.com/p/mopar/full-width-rubicon-front-bumper-jeep-wrangler-jl-82215121ab

All in itā€™s often cheaper to buy parts from the US than U.K./European vendors.
Quadratec will ship to the UK or you can use this site...

https://www.stackry.com

They give you a US address to use and then send stuff to you.

Iā€™ve used Stackry, itā€™s a good service. They will also consolidate multiple items to save on shipping.

Whichever bumper you buy wonā€™t have holes for the front parking sensors (they donā€™t have these on US models) and will need to be drilled.

Assuming yours are halogen, you should be able to reuse the front fog lights.

Don't think this is OEM? missing the wheel guards as well.
Yes itā€™s the OEM part, thatā€™s what Mopar parts are.

Not sure what you mean by wheel guards? If thatā€™s the piece between the bumper and the fender flare they donā€™t have them on the US Rubicon with the steel bumper. The Quadratec product is correct.
