That's crazy. I have been rear ended twice in my first Dakota and did not have that occur. Both times the frame bent below the cab/bed area and the bed whacked the cab. Never did it get totaled out. I was livid. The first time I had just paid it off. Lost about $6k due to the damages on file when I sold it.About 7 Years ago I was rear ended driving my Dodge Dakota. The rear bumper and tailgate were replaced by insurance at no cost to me. What we didn't realize at the time was the filter had been knocked off of the fuel pump and it eventually gunked up the entire fuel system and the truck wouldn't run but for a few minutes at a time. Keep an eye out for that after your repairs are completed.
Could someone comment what color is this Jeep? It is not the Firecracker Red is it? In the picture, this shows more orange than red. It is a beautiful color.
We interrupt this thread to bring you this flippin' hilarious occurence regarding stupid drivers & their cell phones:On a side note did her cell phone crack her windshield when it flew out of her hand?

Punk'n Metallic maybe? Almost looks like a blend between that color and Firecracker. Really nice color/shade. Actually think it looks more like this color I found on a JK from CR, but I'm not sure what that one's called either..

This color is not currently offered it seems. The original poster had this on a 2018. Any chance they will bring it back?Punk'n Metallic maybe? Edit; Just went back and looked at the vehicle info from the person that posted the pic, and it's definitely Punk'n.
No, I don't believe it's being offered any longer. Afaik, the JL had Nacho and Punk'n for oranges, but I'm really not sure if they have a history of bringing colors back once they're retired. More than likely they'll probably just have a completely different shade/hue next time they do another orange color. Just guessing, though. This color is not currently offered it seems. 10 or so years ago my stepfather bought an F350 we didn’t know was rear ended… We knew immediately when we hooked up a trailer. The frame was ever so slightly bent and the hitch was aways at a bad angle… Lots of little thing isn’t aways immediately noticed.About 7 Years ago I was rear ended driving my Dodge Dakota. ...I agree...and also the spare tire may have impacted as well??This seems less about a steel bumper and more about the height of a Jeep’s bumper overall. The mismatch of bumper heights between cars and SUVs has been a problem because the car’s bumper goes untouched.
Sometimes I wish I still had that Dakota. That's crazy. I have been rear ended twice in my first Dakota and did not have that occur. You mean like this?I guess it depends on who is hitting who? But yeah pretty much every vehicle should be lifted in the front and lowered in the rear if you want to optimize for rear end type accidents. Wouldn't that look stylish? lol
