Hello, this morning i had a little bit of a difficulty with continuing to move/restart my car and im wonder if anyone would know as to why this issue might have happened. This morning as i pulled up front to my job's garage gates to badge myself into the garage to park my car ( 2019 Jeep Wrangle Unlimited Sahara 4x4 ) i couldn't reach the badge scanner so put my car in Park, rolled down the window/ opened my door, once the gates open i tried to put my car onto Drive but it was locked/jammed/stuck, i couldn't move it to Drive, I tried turning off the car but it was obviously already off because it was already at a complete stop. I tried stepping the breaks to try and restart the car but the breaks were also locked/jammed/stuck. I tried figuring out what the issues was but luckily my coworker was arriving and she simply just hit the breaks and pressed the button, and magically the car turned back On. The door was opened when she turned back on the car if that matters. Has anyone experienced this? Would any of you know what might have caused this problem? I just got this car a-little over 2 weeks ago from the Jeep Dealership. It's my first Jeep Wrangler. Thank you all in advance.

Hello Ricks Krispies,

We're sorry to hear about this unexpected concern with your new Wrangler. Are you thinking of getting this inspected by your dealer? If you need any help with that process, be sure to send us a direct message as we'd be glad to assist.

I think that's part of the safety system to prevent a jeep from rolling when unattended. I did something similar (to reboot the audio that was giving me a bit of a fit) while at a stop light and the thing wouldn't budge after restart. I'd only shifted into N to shut off and while it did restart it would not let me drive (the D light on the shifter just kept flashing). I had to put it in P, do a hard shut down, open the door, close the door, and restart to get it back into D. All the while sitting in the middle lane of traffic at a green light. Needless to say I won't ever do THAT again. Not the same but maybe that's what's in play here, maybe the safety interlocks got confused. I wouldn't worry about it unless it happens again.

Thanks for the reply!
Man, i cant imagine the pressure! My anxiety kicked it and my blood started rushing by just trying to move my car from blocking the entrance to one of the garage gates, i cant even imagine how i'd feel being stuff in the middle of the street and middle lane. I give you credit!
I believe my issue was sense vehicle has an 'Auto Park' transmission safety feature. I had opened the door to reach the badge scanner to enter the garage gates to my work, after that it would not go back into Drive unless I closed the door and put back my seatbelt is on first. I must have closed the door but never put my seatbelt back on then tried putting into drive, weird thing is though that my friend arrived about 5-10mins later and simply pressed down on the breaks and pressed the Start button without having the close the door and put the seatbelt on, that still remains a weird mystery to me.
