you will not regret a tazer. the tire size change ability and the ability to turn of tpms when airing down to wheel is worth every penny. I also added the homelink visor to my Sport and was able to turn it on with the tazer, no extra wiring needed, the harness is already there in every JL. I hate carryng a remote and i can also select to turn it off at engine off or wait 30 seconds after ignition off. SO many settings. I added a quick flash to my 3rd brake light, turn cam, etc, etc
I agree with all the taser comments and will add the benefit of the security feature where you can set up a PIN using the cruise control buttons. If the code isn't entered after start up the ABS will lock in 40 seconds or when it's put in gear. It will also lock the ABS if the Jeep is driven away without the fob inside, such as a car jacking.

Add a vote for sliding it into neutral at the stop light - bonus feature : no worrying about your foot slipping off the brake pedal and rear ending the car in front of you.

Just leave SS on and do this - and it keeps your little battery charging so it won’t vampire off the larger battery. Ask me how I learned this the hard way

The muscle memory mod is free, can’t beat the price!
It comes down to, why? Why should you have to make another button activation. Is it to save a drop of gas of the lifetime of the vehicle?

Warning - Tongue in cheek post but serious about my question!

My last Jeep was a 2018 Sahara JLU and being the first vehicle I ever had with a start stop function I could not wait to buy and install a Start Stop Eliminator. Well, that Jeep is now gone along with the eliminator module and I just picked up my '24 Rubicon last week.

Well, I decided to go at this a little differently and try the vehicle without modification and just use the Start Stop Off button when I start up. Maybe I am older and wiser or just don't want to pull my dash apart for an install but I am giving it a go. I took a rough measurement and I can depress the starter button and then just move my finger 5 inches to the right and push the off button. So far I remember it most of the time and if I don't I just push the button when stopped at a light and the engine turns off. I am sure with a little more time I will get better and remember each time just like putting on my seatbelt.

So, in my opinion I am leaning more and more towards not buying an eliminator and just build the muscle memory to push the button on startup. What am I missing as so many on the forum complain about the function when all you have to do is move your finger to the right by 5 inches on every startup? Seems simple enough in my opinion. ?

Hit the button and roll

I also forgot about the hood trigger alarm. another nice security issue with the Tazer

I’m in the Tazer camp as well. Had one on my ‘19 Sahara and moved it to my ‘23 Rubicon. So many extra features that make my life easier-fog light dropout disable with high beam, seat belt chime options, tire size, panic button disable for fob, brake light pulse, etc. the ESS disable is just a bonus!

I thought I read somewhere where you can back up with the door open? Have to go and check the new updates to see if this is true.

The best thing I ever did was to just bypass my Aux battery and remove it. Used Tazer to disable the ESS but later found it didn't always go to sleep and also drained my battery. Still like Tazer but now using the OBD JScan app and a simple Bluetooth OBD Plug in module (v-linker MC), Once ESS delete is programed I unplug it. Find it much easier to use for other options like live view, winch speed, fan speed, etc because it's all done on my phone but does need to be plugged in for those. . No crazy reboot x2, etc that is needed with Tazer to make changes also.

I also just made the switch to JScan. The major reason being, no need to unmarry and then remarry for dealer visits.

...For anyone with a whit of mechanical sympathy for these expensive vehicles, ESS is weapons-grade stupidity. Not every analysis begins and ends with chasing that last fraction of fuel efficiency.
"weapons-grade stupidity." I'm going to borrow that one day...
I can't understand how anyone could believe that anything good comes from starting the engine repeatedly. It does nothing but shorten its - and its tangential components' - life.
Tazer here. No worries...

I did the math for that 5” swing of my hand and it consumed exactly 3 seconds of deviation from the start button to the ESS button to the shifter.

I checked my data and the average number of time I start my daily driver is 3 times a day and approximately 325 times a year. That requires me to dedicate 48.75 minutes a year to push that button.
If I spent 48.75 minutes a year hitting the "disable ESS" button, then I hate to think how many minutes I spent adjusting my clothes/seatbelt, waiting for traffic to clear so I can exit my driveway, and uh... hmm.. idk. Wiping my butt after taking a dump? :CWL:

Some things you're just better off not thinking about. This is one of them.

As I wait for delivery of my 2024 JLUR I am busy doing finger exercises so I will be in good physical shape for all the button pushing. Or check writing for the Tazer. Or maybe I'm exercising the wrong (middle) finger to send messages to whoever invented this ESS crap.

When I first got my 2020 Rubi I would always push the start/stop eliminator button. Occasionally when I would forget to push the start/stop button I found that the start/stop feature was no longer working. I ask the dealer what was the problem and was told if you use the start/stop button continuously the start/stop battery would run down and hence the start/stop would no longer work. Problem solved!

Ive must of been lucky. My ESS always says its charging. Never turns off except when the planets align just right. it does startle me every time it activates though. Last year it was 3 times.

In those rare cases, I then hit the disable button and it doesn't bother me again that drive cycle.
