Hi there-
First time posting after lurking for awhile and getting a ton of amazing info from unbelievable knowledgeable people. I'm currently waiting delivery of a jlu sport S punkn and plan to immediately switch out the tires. I won't be doing a lift and the car will be used mainly on pavement with light off roading in the near future. I had settled on BFG KO2 275 as that seemed the sweet spot for me in terms of looks and performance, but then realized that it is only available in E rating. I really want a C rating for a smoother ride and less noise. So my options are getting a C rated 275 like the Discoverer AT3 or Kumho AT51, or go to the KO2 265 which is C rated. 285 will be too big and unnecessary for me at this point. So my questions are:

Will a 265 size tire be too little an improvement compared to the stock 245? If anybody has a pic of a JLU with 265's, please post a pic and/or report experience. (I can't find any pics anywhere, which might say something).

The C rated 275's like Discoverer AT3 and Kumho AT51 don't get much mention on these sites. Anybody have any experience with these?

Thanks.

I put Rubicon takeoffs on my Sport, and they are 285 70 17 C. They fit great.

I like the look of the 285 but am concerned about sluggish performance, mileage, rubbing, the spare carrier etc.

I put on Rubi takeoffs and experience none of those. Mileage seems about the same. Might take a tad bit of zip off acceleration but that could be my imagination. No rubbing (even some fairly rough off-road). No issues with spare tire carrier. They look great.
The nice thing about finding takeoffs is if you don't like them you can sell them for what you paid for them. Can't say the same about new tires.
