We can’t be. There are strong giveaways in the pictures with credible sources that lead us to draw the conclusions made in the first post of this thread but... they may add up to nothing.

I’m going to change the subject ever so slightly. What’s in the picture below is certain. Feel free to tell us what you see in the picture below:

A pickup. What’s this have to do with a 392?

Put me down as seriously interested-if Jeep offers a 2-door Hemi. My 2020 Rubi 2-door (configured today including destination charge) MSRP's at $50,315. This is for a heavily optioned 3.6 Auto with almost every option except: Steel Bumper Group (I went with Warn), Alpine Premium Audio (I am upgrading with JL Audio but using an OEM 8.4" head unit), No Advanced Safety Group (I hate nanny controls) and No Leather Option (I wanted cloth seats but ordered all other leather interior trim from dealer).

I now have spent a good $12K+ (zero labor as I have installed every nut and bolt myself) on aftermarket accessories: 35" KO2's, Bumpers, Winch, Lift, Skid Plates, Rock Rails, Leather Interior Trim, Mopar CAI and all the JL Audio Gear plus a takeout 8.4" Head Unit out of a 2020 JLUR. I love my Rubi and it is exactly how I want it...Except for a bit more power.

I changed tires from the stock 33" KO2's to 35" KO2's the day after taking delivery-really did not notice any difference in performance and I had her programed for the 35"s. However after adding all of the other heavy components (Warn steel bumpers, Winch, Suspension, Steering & various skid plates) she is noticeably more sluggish off the line-which means more sluggish on the trails.
I plan to add Borla's Touring Climber when available (should complement the Mopar CAI) and then try a Livernois tune and this will hopefully get me back to how she was with just the 35's...For yet another $12-1500.
If this does not work, my options are then re-gear to either 4.56's or 4.88's, since I have aftermarket skids on both differentials, this will between $22-2500. (This I would probably have a shop do)
My other option (which I like the idea of) would be to add a supercharger, minimum of about $7K and this is with me doing all the work.

I for one am looking forward to: Official pricing, official release date and hopefully an official announcement of a 2-door Hemi...On a 2020 RAM 1500 4x4, a 5.7 Hemi option is only $1495 more than the standard 3.6. This may be a more cost effective option than we are now guessing...

You're absolutely right. Why would they want to sell a vehicle that they are putting this much R&D into. This is the most ridiculous thing I've heard you say today, and that's saying something.
Where is all the r&d on a proven engine thats been running in several different vehicles for over 7 years with zf trans programming on a platform that has been developed 3-4 years ago??? Its called motor mounts and fitting the steering box and keeping it cool.

Thats aside from the point that yes the price point will be around 80k.

I actually think if they think they're gonna launch this with the standard issue M210/220, they're gonna have to make it AWD just to try to spread the load.

This is honestly the part that baffles me the most - I'm guessing the axles will have to get a D60-ish refresh for production models. ESPECIALLY if they're talking factory 37's (which I think will become 35's for production models). You just can't put 450hp thru the M220 rear and expect it to live.

Yes, I understand guys run stupid power thru things like the Ford 9" at the track, BUT SERIOUSLY off-road use is VERY, VERY different. I've seen Ford 351M's (~150hp stock) on 33's break Ford 9"s on the trail.

Track and trail = different worlds
They'll probably stick with bfg 37's which are realistically what, about 35.5"? That combined with the taller 3.73's will help reduce load shock from a lead foot coming off a fresh green. For typical street use, the biggest issue will probably be tire wear and rotations needed every 500 miles. Lol

Jeeps smart enough to know that, regardless of how they set it up at the factory, those of us who intend on fully utilizing its off road capabilities are going to make changes. This is where my main curiosity lies.

If ones goal is to end up with a build like litebrites step child, i think it would be way more cost efficient to start with this 392 Rubicon, rather than going the aftermarket transplant route.

Assuming they pair the 392 with a higher model number ZF auto (iirc 75 or 80 series), than all that's left is an atlas, 60's or 60/80 combo, and typical wheel/tire/lift off choice.

I will believe it, only when I see them hit the dealerships.
But, I still want one.
Just give me about 400 hp, lots of torque, a good radio, A/C, manual windows, and a stout drivetrain. None of all the complicated electronics that just seem to get buggy over time.
Keep it simple, and get back to basics.

I think most folks are discussing higher prices since it was noted that it would be a package that would include things like larger tires, beadlock wheels, lift, red interior, etc. Kind of like an 'SRT' trim level. Who knows if that's true.

However, let's assume for a moment that it's not that, and it's just an engine selection. I think it would be significantly more than $1495 as other items would need to be upgraded to handle the output of the engine, including the transmission, cooling, and brakes. I believe the transfer case is fine, as is the fuel setup as neither of those parts are something you have to swap when adding a V8 aftermarket. But general packaging, cooling, transmission, and brakes all have to change. So I don't think there's any way it ends up as $1495, as those items must be changed or you will literally have the vehicle A) unable to stop effectively as people nuke their brakes, B) the car overheating in traffic/through passes, and C) blowing up transmissions.

Yes, you're right, no R&D on that.

In NO way did I mean to infer that it would just be $1495...I was only pointing to the actual upgrade cost in another FCA 4x4 vehicle that going from a standard 3.6 V6 to a 5.7 Hemi was a modest $1495 and we might be pleasantly surprised when pricing is announced. If you look at the Recon package pricing vs adding the same options to a standard Rubicon, the Recon is a very good value...If you want all the options in the Recon package.
I would also think that FCA might just take into account a new upcoming competitor before getting too crazy with pricing...
