Hi All,

I recently picked up some Rubicon Tires/Wheels to put on my sport. I basically have a choice between paying the dealership $135 to do the cal for me, or buy the AEV Snap Module. I was not planning on using any of the other tuning products.

A couple questions: Are the dealers in the habit of denying warranty when we use these devices? What about the miles, i.e. claiming a warranty isn't valid etc.

I guess in a nutshell, is there any advantage to having the dealership cal the Jeep?

Its the same process of just reprograming so If your ever going to use any of the other options get a programmer if not pay the dealer and be one and done

Negatives of having the dealership do it:

1. If you change tire size again you have to pay again

2. If the dealership does a system flash or reset you will have to pay again

3. Might as well get the programmer then you can use it multiple times.

$135 one time vs. $125 multiple times.
AEV Snap is great.
Warranty can only be denied if what you did directly caused the problem.
Also, if the dealership doesn’t program to your liking, you’ll have to bring it back.
Your choice.

Find someone local who has one and maybe they’ll let you use it in exchange for a case of beer?

The dealer charge seems criminal.

I think most of the programmers are a one Jeep programmer. Married to just one...

Not sure what it keys on to be honest, but if you want to use it on another Jeep you would have to unmarry it from the first. That would loose the changes.

My dealer quoted $150 for a service contract that I would have to buy then .5 hr of labor. Total was north of $200. No thank you. Hence why I didn’t buy my Jeep from any dealers near me.

My local dealer quoted me $190 initially for the calibration, and then mentioned an additional $100 that FCA requires to unlock the software and for registration. I laughed, and said no thanks and that I’ll do it myself. The service advisor went further to mention that only dealerships had the capability of calibrating speedos. Laughed even harder at that statement, and went online and purchased a programmer in front of him. Just buy your own and save yourself the hassle of dealing with those dealership crooks.

Thanks all. I just went ahead and bought a Procal Snap. Less headache, less money, and it worked great.
