Does anyone know what the specs for the lug nuts are? Stock lugs on stock tires. I'm looking for a bit I can attach to a power drill for quick lug nut removal/replacement. Is there such a thing?

Stock lugs:

Socket - 22mm

130 ft/lb torque for wheel lug nuts and only 59 ft/lb on the spare tire lugs.

You will not break them loose with a little electric drill with socket.

To remove your lugs, get a cheapo 16" breaker bar and the right size socket.

To install lugs, start them by hand, snug up a tad, and then torque with a ft./lb torque wrench in the proper sequence.

Avoid power tools unless you aren't concerned about possibly damaging the lugs or tweaking the wheel studs.

Thanks for the detailed response. I've removed lugs on my old Sonata using the standard cross wrench, but figured I'd ask if there was an easier way.

Lesser vehicles with 80 or 90 ft-lbs you can manage with the cross wrench, but getting into the higher torque values you are better off getting a tool that fits well and has a longer lever arm. I already had a long breaker bar so I bought a 22mm deep impact socket from home depot and just leave it in the Jeep, that way I don't have a socket missing from my toolbox. Add... I bought a 6 point socket which will fit better than a 12 point.

In case you missed it..
22mm?

If they were 3/4" they wouldn't handle 130 ft-lb
Correct.. I was thinking lug nut lock key size. YES, 22 mm for the JL stock lug!

Thanks everyone!
I keep a 16" breaker bar with the appropriate size socket that works with the Gorilla Lug Nut key in the JL at all times.

I have the socket attached to the breaker bar and the tool is placed in a 18" long piece of gray, foam pipe insulation. I keep this affair, in the small compartment where the scissor jack is. Fits right in on top. With the foam pipe insulation, I have no metal to metal related rattles.

I learned long ago, you can be up chitt creek so to speak, sometimes trying to break lugs loose with the little tire iron that comes with the Jeep.

Once you see someone standing on a tire iron trying to break a lug loose and the lug snaps off, etc., you realize wise man/gal carries a breaker bar with socket as I do in the vehicle at all times.

I never personally use or allow use of power tools on my lug nuts.

I edited my initial post so it now says the correct for JL, 22.. I noted size used for a locking lug nut key I use. Sorry for the confusion.
