Hello,

Those overlanders with trailers do you carry a spare for your trailer. I am going to install a Timbren suspension but it’s a 6 lug set up. Thanks

I’m building an off-road teardrop trailer and also using the Timbren suspension with 6 bolt wheels. I have load range E tires going on it and will probably not run a spare since the trailer will be under 2,000 lbs loaded so well under the tires rated weight limits.

You can change the spindle to be whatever you need. I believe they have the Jeep 5X5. I run 35’s on the Jeep and the trailer but the trailer has 15” wheels which means I can run the Jeep spare on the trailer but I can’t use a trailer wheel on the Jeep.

I'm fairly sure that that's only possible on their smallest (2,000lb) axle-less suspension. They're pretty adamant about not attempting that with their bigger (3,500+lb) suspensions.

I am more concerned about breaking a spindle than blowing out a tire. Just trying to be prepared.

I guess. I have 5 on 5 on my 3500# axel and I can't imagine breaking the spindle on a 10 ft trailer. I considered going with the Timbren 2000 pound setup, I doubt I would exceed that weight unless I put an 1800 pound horse in it, but putting the same lug pattern on the trailer as the tow vehicle makes a lot of sense. There are a ton of 5 on 5 and 5 on 4.5 toy haulers that must have a GVW of at least 6000 pounds. I guess you either have to carry an additional spare or find a different manufacturer who can provide the lug pattern you need. I just don't have the space for another spare.

Another option is to carry a wheel adaptor from 6 bolt to the 5 on 5 Jeep pattern.

Thank you all the idea’s. I am running 37” on the JL and the trail has fenders on it. I use Jeep for overlanding nothing hardcore. I will gamble for a while and see what happens.
