How far are you towing your boat? It looks like your tongue level at 19”:with the 2” drop.

If you just need space above to drop the hitch onto the ball just open the door when you put the trailer on.
the winch post of the boat trailer sits not far from the face of the spare tire - you unfortunately can't open the tailgate very much at all.

Thanks for the link sir. Do you think that product would buy me the clearance necessary to get the trailer coupler under the tire to drop onto the ball? The pictures don't seem to show a lot of space after the relocation plate is on... but then again those tires are 35's and beyond, mine are only 33's

keep in mind, I’m on 37” tires, so 4” taller than your tires. You can subtract 2” from my measurements and go from there. I have 7.5” from tongue to tire bottom. In this configuration you would have 9.5” from tongue to tire bottom. Your tongue is flipped and that costs you 3” by looking at the pictures. That leaves you with 6.5” between tongue and tire bottom if you had this bracket with a 33” tire. 6.5” should be plenty of room to put your trailer on. Hope this helps.

We have used a hitch extender to pull our little Bushwhacker trailer. We have roughly 1200 miles of towing with it so far. No issues. Have taken it on some semi maintained forest roads.

It's amazing to me that the relocation bracket buys you that much height lift on your spare, even with a 37" tire. Take a look at the distance between the bottom of the rear bumper and the bottom of your spare tire. and then take a look at mine. I may have 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch between the two surfaces. That relocation kit lifts the spare only 2 inches total?

If these numbers are legit, yes, this does help immensely. This to me seems like the easiest and least annoying solution.

The steel ones weigh ~ 13-15lbs, Teraflex aluminum relocation brackets are featherweight and come with a tire bumper extension kit. ~$135-150. Up 2” out 1 3/8” as I Recall. The heavy RC steel one that would have put it in the reinforcement needed weight range is in the garage with other unused parts I wasted money on.

Looks like you may have already settled on the solution being a spare relocation. I just want to add one more reason to do that over the extender: by using an extension for the hitch, you are adding a lot of extra stress to the hitch. Your jeep is only rated for a tongue weight of 350 lbs from factory (maybe slightly more depending on engine and other options) and i bet your going to already be maxing that out with a 3200lb boat.

So I have a question. You say the boat is 3200lbs. The unlimited is rated for max towing of 3500lbs. Does your weight include fluids, gear, the trailer? If not you are going to be way over weight.

It's an excuse to lift your Jeep and use a drop hitch.

Maybe install a tire hanger on the boat trailer and carry the spare on it?

From what the boat dealer sent you, it looks to me like you are going to be at 19” to the top of the ball with the trailer level.

I also agree that if you boat weighs that much you are goin to be way over the towing weight limit for a Jeep. You will probably also be over the tongue weight limit and if you have people or gear in your Jeep you will probably also be over the payload limit on the Jeep. Will it still pull it? Sure. Will it safely handle in an emergency situation or if it is wet or windy? Very doubtful

I really, really hesitate to remove the spare tire. Seems like a kick in the nuts waiting to happen, so that's worst case scenario.

Reevaluating the hitch extenders as we speak. Thanks for stopping in with your insight. Much appreciated
I towed our small camper for approximately 54,000 miles with a hitch extender. Just saying. That is on road and off road.

I cut my hitch extension as short as possible to give the ball the clearance I wanted with out the extra length that I did not need.

Dry weight if I remember correctly is around 1700, with gear we are probably around 2200 or so.
