Love them! Someone needs to get a close up shot of the actual lower opening, it’s got to be sealed glass or plexiglass. Nice to see offered with power mirors and door locks.

Anyone have a close up photo to share?

Awesome. Is it glass? Open? Removeable?
It is open. I read on Motortrend that it has a plexiglass like insert that can be inserted to close it off to the elements.

"Donut doors are available on softtop models. They come with a filler plug for cold weather and security, and require a drop-in clear plastic cassette, which is a sort of modern side-curtain, because this optional door does not allow for roll-up glass"

Ugggh I was afraid of this. How will they seal during water crossings? This kind of sucks IMO.
Thanks for the info though

Guys, there is some interesting talk about these half doors in the Autoline After Hours Podcast I posted about. With as many obsessed as me about this, I’m surprised no one is commenting on it.

Tell me about it, of all the new things offered these are by far stand out the most, yet get little to no attention?!

That's actually incorrect. Zoom in on pic attached. The slots for uppers are there.

Just in case there was any doubt - Mark Allen, lead designer for the Wrangler, explicitly mentions the "soft uppers" in this video. He also mentions looking out the doughnut in the back seat, in case there was any doubt about half-doors on unlimited models.

Link is to the specific reference, but the whole thing is worth watching:

Seems so doesn’t it! And why we can’t have a manual option on all models blows!
