My wife's JL has had a sound bar speaker that i'm pretty sure is blown. it has that hollow i'm giving up the ghost when the base hits. it DOES change slightly when you push hard on the enclosure above the speaker... but it sure sounds like it's blown and not just a rattle.

Anyone have a good replacement for these 4" speakers? Did they use a standard 4 ohm resistance speaker or did they go with something odd?

Why not have it fixed under warranty?

i just completed the same process. I did not do the knee speakers yet but the other 6 made a huge difference.
Here are the 3.5" speakers I went with for the dash and sound bar-
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B...b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1&pldnSite=1
And here are the 4" speakers I went with for the sound bar-
https://smile.amazon.com/Pioneer-TS...7068&s=car&vehicleId=5&vehicleType=automotive
And lets not forget the wiring harnesses, you will want 4 of these-
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002BET5Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And 2 of these unless doing the knee speakers then you will want 4-
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007WTEVM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And to make sure they are seated/sealed well you will want this as well-
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002ZPLPM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Sounds much better than stock and was really an easy upgrade.
Good luck to you.

Thank you!,

do you have the alpine system or was that the upgrade of the base system?

According to the description those are mid-range only and designed to be paired with a separate tweeter on a x-over. I would think they would sound a little flat by themselves.
I would retain the factory high's. they have a 4" mid and 3.5" high in each side of the sound bar.

Make sure the grill itself is not loose. I had one early on that had a bolt working it's way out that made it rattle pretty bad. Holding the grill would dampen it

Mine sounded similar. I threw some rubber lining in between the sound bar and the jeep and it sounds good as new now.

I have the stock, non-Alpine system and just want a little more out of it... I’ll have to look into this. Thanks!
