So you think the 4 flat is legit?
Let's put it this way.

There was a reason the best bang for your buck mod you could make on the 99-04 Mustang GT was gears for the 1/4 mile and 0-60 times.

I think conditions will prove that it'll be somewhere in that territory. A jump in gearing from 3.73 to 4.56 is completely reasonable to knock a half second to 60 though. 315's don't add much rotational weight.

Haha, that wasn't a fox body!
I know, I was saying more like "why you no fox body too" LOL
I had a '93 and gearing was the first mod I did and what a difference that made by itself.

Ah lol. Insane what gearing does to vehicles!

I tend to believe the CD numbers.
The 4.56's are a like using a longer prybar to move something heavy vs a shorter one,
Its much easier to do. Especially when you apply the 392's torque, fulltime 4wd( essential no tire spin), the speed limiter being raised (so your not bouncing off the limiter at the end of the QTR like a standard 392) and with a minimal increase in unsprung weight ( wheels /tires) it makes it entirely plausable. From my own experiences, my GTO picked up 6 tenths on the same day, at the same track with nothing more than a gear change from 3.70 - 4.11.

I thought the 1/4 would be better considering the quicker 0-60 and the 110 limit. Someone else did high 12's with a non XR and was on the limiter before the trap.

I saw that video but I think that guy removed the seats/rear tire and some other stuff. There was some other weight reduction items also I believe. Hell 12.9 In a wrangler is pretty damn crazy lol

I remember back in the day my dad having a c5 corvette and it felt crazy fast to me then. Now to think there's a wrangler that's faster than that is still mind blowing to me lol

I thought the standard 392 was 4.10 gears?

I can remember first reading about the original Corvette ZR1 (C4) when I was just getting my drivers license. That was an insanely fast car, it it's time. There was very little that could keep up with the OG ZR1, and for those you were paying minimum double (if not much more) the price of the ZR1.

I can remember reading this article in original print, a few years before Al Gore invented the internet :giggle: . I probably still have this issue as well as a couple Motor Trend issues with ZR1 articles somewhere.

https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a15141952/1990-chevrolet-corvette-zr-1-archived-test-review/

Of course these days 400hp is common place and there are a LOT of choices north of 550hp and much much more. So the numbers that ZR1 put up are pretty humble by today's standards. And now the Rubicon 392 is every bit as fast, at least through 1/4 mile, as the OG ZR1. Unbelievable!!

Maybe they weren't using the launch control or properly.
