Huge thx to everyone who gave me some fantastic advice in my other thread about DPF regen cycles, got a ton of helpful responses & DM's. I'm trying to be proactive about making this engine last.

My Situation:
  • I just upgraded to this 2021 JLU from a 2016 JKU.
  • It was a leased vehicle and the previous dealer had to replace the Long Block, DPF, and Fuel Pumps at 56k miles in May.
  • Currently assuming the original fuel injectors were transferred over.
  • The new engine/DPF have less than 500 miles on them right now.
Given this setup (new engine + old injectors + city driving), I'm looking for some short-term & long-term advice:

1. Injector Cleaner (Main Question): Should I run a cleaner (Archoil AR6400-D or Opti-Lube Diesel Clean) right now? In case the injectors are dirty, but I also don't want to harm the brand-new DPF.
2. Proactive Component Cleaning: Is it worth diving in and checking out the MAF sensor, MAP sensor, and EGR pipe? Should I leave them alone and/or assume they might have been cleaned during the troubleshooting/engine replacement process?
3. Daily Fuel Additives: I've read about these until my eyes hurt. For a city-heavy cycle what might be best? I can get Hot Shots, Opti-Lube and Archoil Products locally.
4. Warm-Up / Cool-Down: Best practices for warm-up & cool-down (especially after a long drive or regen)? Currently monitoring with a Scangauge 3.

Much appreciated!

1. Injector Cleaner (Main Question): Wouldnt hurt. I believe its best to do this right before an oil change which is what i have done.
2. Proactive Component Cleaning: Ill let others chime in on this one.
3. Daily Fuel Additives: I have been using Archoil and think it is a good practice especially for your high pressure fuel pump.
4. Warm-Up / Cool-Down: I take it easy on mine until its warmed up. For cool down. I like to let the post turbo EGT get down into the mid 400's.

I'm wondering if you got one that the recalled fuel pump grenaded on if the Long Block was replaced. Checking out the EGR will be interesting and probably worth it. I use Archoil for the lubricity and ease of use; haven't had any issues.

I wondered that too but the fuel pump recall was done on it in 2022, I talked to the service advisor who checked the vehicle in at the dealership and he said the lessee dropped it off and the engine was having a hard time staying on while idling, so they replaced the fuel pump again and tried some troubleshooting + got it to stay on/idle a bit better but they determined it needed a new Long block for whatever reason 🤷‍♂️
