I am on travel for a couple of days with no access to the Jeep. Perhaps someone can look at the little wheels in the track and see if they are screwed on or permanently mounted to the black bracket. We need to source slightly softer wheels that are a little wider and taller so the roll in the track without all the clanging.

My tape is still holding up and things are quiet, but I realized this was a temp solution to test the theory.
Just checked, wheels do not come off... I wonder if this will work, if you wrap it around the wheel

If it hardens "hard", then we haven't fixed much except for taking up some free space in the track. We need something that remains rubbery so it doesn't make a bunch of noise in the track.

Sugru DOES harden “rubbery”.
Hmmmm. You would still need to keep the wheels very round so they would roll easily in the tracks … That's why I was considering a spray on rubber coating that would dry fairly quickly ….

I bought some yesterday. The hell with it I’m gonna give it a shot. Apparently it’s pretty easy to remove it too

I’m just reporting back in about 1 1/2 days into it and it’s flawless. Best thing I’ve done. I didn’t get the rubber to be super circular but it flows in the track perfectly.

now. I need to conquer the other rattles from those plastic track pieces that sit on the Jeep frame. Fall is here now in New England and only a few more weeks left with the soft top anyway. I’ll fix those rattles next spring with the same Sugru

Does it harden all the way or does it stay a little rubbery? Did you do the sides of the wheels also?

A little less than 24 hours it was still a bit rubbery. I haven’t checked since last night. In a few hours I’ll check to see if it full hardened. I got enough on the wheel to do the sides as well

Well checking back in after about four days. Unfortunately it did not work. Rolling the soft top up and down quite a few times caused the rubber to break apart on the wheels. Back to the electrical tape
