Soft top broke on me.....

I have a regular manual soft top on my Sport and was putting it down yesterday and about halfway down it seized up on me leaving it where it wouldn't go up or down anymore. Luckily my dealership is only about 10 miles away so I threw back the front half into the sunrider position and limped it over there hoping it wouldn't magically open up on the highway like a parachute. The couple different service writers who came out hadn't seen it happen before. So looks like I get a fairly new issue to be a guinea pig on.... YAY! The first pic is how I arrived at the dealer, second it the good bar still in perfect condition and the 3rd pic is the bar on the side that seized up on me. Im assuming something in the little gear box there on the cage seized causing the whole issue but I'm not sure.

Dealership called and they are getting a new rod to replace the bent one and a new driver side top cable going from the handle to the gear box. I guess there was an issue with the cable not unlocking the gearbox correctly. They did a great job getting on it much quicker than expected. I guess they're wanting to get any new problem figured out as much as anyone with it being a relatively new model.

well the same cable broke as last time.... so it is back in the shop. I guess when they were testing vehicles they didn't test the top as much as I go up and down with mine lol. The cable at the connection to the release handle broke.

Man that sucks. Hopefully it will be fixed for good this time

My release handle at the back of the top broke last night on me too. It pulls the cable in the drivers side box to allow it to fold down.

Anyone know a part # don't want to have to deal with dealership for a hopefully cheap plastic part.

Yeah mine was apparently actually the pin itself instead of the handle. But I asked the guy to go ahead and order a few because Im sure ill be back in a few months.
