The North Rim, If you want that, all alone on Mars feeling, check out Kelly Point Overlook. You can easily tow your trailers to here https://www.google.com/maps/place/K...74f90687d18cf!8m2!3d35.8350195!4d-113.4705573
From this camp point the 31 miles out to Kelly Point takes 3/4 hours and a good place for a relaxing lunch. If you had off road trailers it would be a very memorable campsite on the N. Rim but a difficult pull. I slept on my cot and it was one of the best campsites I've ever found.
https://expeditionportal.com/forum/...ok-g-c-n-p-very-remote-vehicle-access.232018/
We already came across the North Rim side and while it looks like a great spot, it will be to far out of our way at this time. I am addicted it to my map in case we get back over that way in the future.

We left Page this morning and headed to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Just a quick drive through and got the National park stamp in Carla’s book. We headed out the south west side of the park to camp in the Kaibab National Forest.

We stopped at the Watch Tower on our way in. Always a good view from there.

I am disappointed though. They are working on the tower and they are not allowing people to go up in the tower. Only the base is accessible.

So we are camping in the Kaibab National Forest just outside of the Grand Canyon National park. There are many places to disburse camp here for free. Like hundreds of places. We did go about six miles into the forest just exploring, but came back closer to the main road to set up camp.

A quick screen shot from Gaia where we explored. There was only a hand full of people out here camping. There are literally hundreds if spots with fire rings that are empty.

Of course the campsite that Gary and Ang
picked had an elk in it…… Well part of an elk……

Gary and Angie did not see the Elk pieces and parts. Maybe I should use the Elk keg and put elk tracks all around his camper while they sleep….. will have to see if I get up before they do.

We plan to explore more of the Canyon tomorrow.

it is wierd because the main visitor center is not open. I have been unsuccessful in talking Carla into hiking to the the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Wish me luck.

So doing some more mapping this morning and realized that we have been in 13 states so far this year.

Today, we are headed back to Page Az. Already booked a hotel. The last time we had a hotel was March 28th. So five weeks straight of camping. Then possibly the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and the South Rim. Then Prescott, Sedona and Flagstaff for Overland Expo West by May 20th. Going to be a busy 18 days before the Expo.

Exciting days to come.
A great area with so much to see! I’m sure everyone will enjoy the hotel after camping so long. The expo hopefully will be great. We’re heading there for a day also!

Okay some catching up. Been busy. So this is my fourth time to the Grand Canyon. We walked the path west of the village this time. We went out about two miles. The Grand Canyon is…..well grand as one might say. It is huge. We turned around after a couple miles because we came to the realization that we would have to walk ten plus miles to really get a different view.

I did get some decent shots, Maybe.
Got up and built a fire. One would think we had fires often, but they are more of a luxury. Plus they take a lot of water to put out.

We went back to camp mid afternoon and moved camp down between Prescott and Jerome. A place Gary and Angie found while we were at the Grand Canyon. The new campsite is Mingus Mountain.

I've been following your posts, such great pictures. I've been to a lot of the same places but on a motorcycle. Being out on the road with nothing but the wind and the smells is almost a supernatural experience. It really helps one understand the blessings of this world and especially this country. It would be great if our timing would match up but I don't think it will, I won't be heading west until the end of July/Early August. Keep rolling and God bless.

So I had not planned to wheel yesterday as we have been in the Jeep a lot. Over the last week or so. Then the rain came.

The wet rock and dirt brings out the color.
indeed spectacular.
best views i've had out there have been after a storm.

We met up with Cornercanyon for some camping and exploring. Gary busted out a bottle last night and I enjoyed some nice tequila. The bottle got left out and it made for a great photo this morning. With the sunrise. Coffee is just about done.

excellent choice. and a great value! that's the Reposado i use for margaritias, but their Añejo makes for a good sipping tequila.

With MinGus Mountain as our new base camp, we headed out today and explored the town of Jerome and got so killer bbq at Bobby B Bbq.

Baby back ribs . We could not even eat half of the meal that we split.

I know you are all thinking wtf does he ever go wheeling anymore? So after walking through the shops in Jerome, we were heading back to camp and saw some trails across the valley. A quick look on Gaia gave a a trail that went from the north side of Jerome to the south side of Jerome and over a mountain pass.

I am going to have to pull the dash cam video for this trail . While it was a moderate trail. The majority of the trail was a shelf trail with rocks and brush on one side and long drop offs on the other side. I realize that the pics that I posted do not show that and that is because for the most part could not get out of the Jeep.

Well if you see me at the expo, say hi. We will camp there Thursday to Monday. So we will be around somewhere.
For sure! We’ll be there only on Sunday as I work the other days. Have a blast! Mingus mtn has some fun little trails around there!! In Jerome there’s also a great hamburger spot. And a haunted hotel.

Went from Mingus Mountain to Cottonwood by trail today.

There is a bunch of wheeling in the area. The trail was 19+ miles long full of great views.

Busy day today, found a “Ghost Town”…. There was a town with tons of old vehicles, building and stuff. Definitely worth the $10 to walk through it. I took many many photos there, but just posting what I think you all will be interested in.
