First night on north Padre Islands. This morning the winds are harsh, but we have life things to do today. Groceries, laundry and such.

It was relaxing after a 4 1/2 hour drive.

Camp set up is easy for us.

The moon lit the sky up last night.

Sun setting over the dune made for some nice views.

On your way to Big Bend, you need to drop south of Abilene to little town called Buffalo Gap. Population 474 as of 2018.

The Perini Ranch Steakhouse is world famous. Been there since 1973. They have cooked for past Presidents right on white house lawn. People come from all over the world for their food and STEAK. You will not be disappointed with your dinner.

The guy in the chair… Gary is a ride and die kind of guy. He is exactly the kind of guy you want on your side. He will fight, ferociously loyal, will defend the weaker of us, will not tolerate a bully and is generous with his time and resources. You could not ask for a better friend. Bill who drives the Punk’N jeep is the same way. Two days before I was to leave on an out of state trip, I ripped two teeth of my rear pinion. We had the trip planned for several months. I was fucked. There were 6 of us going to Cape Lookout in North Carolina. Bill tossed me the key fob to his Jeep and said just don’t bring it back on empty jokingly. Yup just volunteered his 50g Jeep to me for a 2500 mile wheeling trip. He is ride and die too.
Then the amazing thing, two very strong and independent women that get along with out bitching at each other.
Angie is such a sweetheart…. Gary’s wife and Carla loves her too.

I am blessed to be traveling with them.

40 degrees is shorts and T-shirt weather for us. We do not have heat in the campers, we do have an electric blanket if we need it. When it is in the lower 20s, we use the electric blanket to warm up the bed and then turn it off.

At 30 degrees we crack the windows at times. The biggest problem we are having is while we camp on the beach in Padre, the wind is blowing so hard that we can not cook outside or at times we can not open our eyes facing the wind because of the blowing sand.

We do not have heat in the campers, we do have an electric blanket if we need it. When it is in the lower 20s, we use the electric blanket to warm up the bed and then turn it off. That will help for sure.

The sand in strong wind is always beach problem. Well stay warm and take care. It should warm up your way by at least Saturday but not sure about the winds.

So a basic update. My wife over packed… way over packed. She sent home three pair of shoes a bag of cloth, a tent, two backpacks, two sleeping bags with the sleeping pads……and her sewing machine and quilting materials.

You forgot to mention the kitchen sink also. LOL, I am the same way sometimes. I way over pack for trips. Glad to see your having the time of your life.

They are all built about the same , so it is all on the driver. I say the white one because either I or my wife drives the white one. Bill in the orange Jeep is very conservative and he will opt for most bypasses and is almost alway the one that say fuck that, I’m not doing that. Gary in the blue one will Ty stuff, but he rarely airs down below 15 or 20 psi as he does not like to air up. I will commonly air down to 8 to 10 psi, so I get significantly better traction. Stuff he struggles on, I go through with out spinning a tire.
