Thank you. I will update it soon. We have been in Big Bend for the last week wheeling and hiking. Even took a boat ride over to Mexico. I have to drive about 20 miles to get any type of service.

So we spent a week in Big Bend and we are headed to White Sands New Mexico in the morning. I have some great shots to share .

we have been wheeling and hiking just about everyday.

So a couple quick shots while my wife is in showering and I have some slow Wi-Fi.

So we landed around the El Paso area today and I have service.

so Big Bend was awesome even though there was no service. We wheeled the badge trail Black Gap and many other areas like Old Ore, River Road, and Gleen Springs.

Our first sunrise from our boondock site about 60 miles north of Big Bend.

we drove into the park and did our first hike it was the lower Mesa Trail trail. Total hike was about 4 miles.

We climbed up to the natural arch. The above pic was taken from the arch.

Bill is doing a Little Rock Climbing… lol. He is center at the bottom.

Then later that night, it was movie night on the side of the camper. The movie was My Spy.

Next day was a drive from one side of the park to the other side with a quick stop at the Texas/Mexico border. The border fence was huge.

Then we were treated to an amazing sunset at our first back country campsite.

We are camping right on the Rio Grande river. Mexico is on the other side of the river.

After breakfast, we head out to wheel on Old ore road. The road requires high clearance and 4x4 to travel the 26 miles. We did it in 2wd, but there were places that flexed the jeep.

There were incredible views in every direction.

We got back to our campsite late and the sun had just set.

We then wheeled the Black Gap trail. That was underwhelming., but hay it’s a badge trail.

The following day did some more hiking. We needed a break from the Jeep. We hiked along side the Rio Grande river in the Boquilis Canyon.

The next day we took the row boat ride to Mexico to a village called Boquillas. The girls rode donkeys into gown and we walked. Not the donkey show in Mexico that you are expecting.

We had the worst Mexican food ever.

How do you find cool up tacos and guacamole? Sorry no pics of the food. On a sidenote, when the border was closed because of Covid, they had to drive a 160 miles one way to get groceries.

Only thing interesting in the village.

The border crossing was silly. Nothing to walk to the river and take a row boat across or walk. When you enter the US, you have one border patrol officer, you put your enchanted driver’s license or passport into a scanner, the phone rings, you look into a camera, they ask you if you have anything to declare and the off you go.

with time left, we did another hike out off Old ore road called Earnest Tinaja.

Then back to camp for another great sunset.

Up early and caught the moon and I think a planet in the same shot. No service so of course I could not look it up.

As the light gained strength over the darkness, I hiked up to the to of a rock ledge over looking our campsites.

Then watched the sunrise over the mountains.

We finished out the week by hiking Pine Canyon. A 4 mile hike with almost a 1000 ft of elevation change. It ended at a 200ft high water fall. There was no water as it has not rained in a while.

We spent a total of six days at Big Bend and could have stayed longer. It was a 20 mile drive to get service that worked. Wi-Fi at Panther Junction Ranger Station. I could get Wi-Fi at a campground that was about 10 miles away, but it was horrible. So we pretty much went without. Also 20 miles to go get fuel. So 40 miles round trip for Wi-Fi or fuel. Big Bend is huge.

I think I have some good video that will come later. We are going to hang out in some BLM land and slow down some. We have already covered approximately 4,500 miles. We need to clean all the grime out of the Jeep and camper, get laundry done, get an oil change and handle some business over this next couple days.

We had a great time out at Big Bend. The Jeeping is not challenging, but the views make up for it. Plus not every trail has to be a ten. The back roads were rough enough that it was fun to cruise at ten to twenty mph when aired down. The large scale views are worth the drive alone.
