I want to be able to bring a small chainsaw with me but I don’t want to:
- put on a roof top storage rack
- have something that rides low like the attachments for the hitch
- cover up my backup camera
- drill holes in the body

when I see the roll bar mounts they look like they only work without the roof on.
Any ideas?

I have a 2020 JLUR

Thanks peeps!

If you are willing to drill into the front bumper, that position makes the most sense to me. You'll need some kind of brackets. I don't want no stinky ass chainsaw in the cab. Besides, you ruled out all the other places.

Small chainsaw, think electric. I own a Makita, works really well, equivalent to a Stihl 026 power wise. Since it is battery powered, you could store in under the rear seat without worrying about a fuel spill or the like.

Having a chainsaw makes a lot of sense in wooded area trails. I like that idea. I don't know where I'll be on my travels, so I thought I'd invest in a hand saw that was capable of pretty large cuts.

If you're looking for a hand saw, this one is excellent. Good saw, very light and very stashable. It's always in my Jeep.

Case, and in the Jeep, or put it in a Rubbermaid "tote".

Put it in the Jeep. If you don't want to do that, get a bumper with a super heavy duty swing out gate on it, and fab up a custom attachment bracket for that.

Folks attach high lift jacks to swing out gates all the time, and a chainsaw is lighter than a high-lift.

Exactly. I carry the Ryobi with 12" blade, Ryobi impact driver, and Ryobi inflator. They all work amazingly.

A must carry, even with a chainsaw.

Well I typed out a whole description on how to make a mount, then I deleted it all, found a Youtube video to show you how to do it. Then drill some holes in it so you can mount it where ever you want.

unless its for blasting through waves of zombies, then id mount it to the front bumper.
This is where my mind went. Maybe three of them: left, right, and a center one underslung from a grotesquely oversized stinger. Mad max style.

I never really thought about keeping a chainsaw handy, until a few weeks ago when I was trying to head home after a morning of archery hunting and found this little surprise waiting for me mere feet from the municipal road:

Luckily, I was hunting fairly close to home that day and my wife was gracious enough to run my saw out to me.

I carry a saw with me when I go wheeling. I used to carry a Sthil chainsaw, as did my bud. We were wheeling in Alabama in a national forest and his saw tipped over leaking all the fuel out of it and in the interior of his Jeep. Plus we had to drive about 40 miles to get more fuel. We decided right then and there to go to the Milwaukee Fuel cordless saws. We have never looked back.
