I sincerely do appreciate everyone's help on this forum.

Re-geared about 200 miles ago. Everything seemed fine, but today I noticed a slight higher pitched whine coming from the rear diff on deceleration. Is a little noise ok, or does it mean a problem?

I read that a whine on deceleration (but not on acceleration) indicates pinion bearing problem or insufficient preload. A video from Yukon suggested that it can be necessary to add some more torque to the pinion nut.

Should I wait to see if things get worse, or maybe I damaged the rear ball bearing using an impact to tighten?
Just wondering if anyone has experience with this?

Thanks! :like:

Did you do the work yourself or did you have a shop do it? Just curious.

Did the work myself... First time.
You’ll just need to make a pinion adjustment is all. Nothing crazy.

Don’t torque the nut any further. You’ll end up way too high on your initial TQTR figure. Grab a new crush sleeve and make a pinion adjustment.
