Its the storage factor and the hassle factor. The hard panels are nice, I like the open feel, but am concerned about scratching them when they are off. I like the glass better than the plastic windows. Additionally, if I take off the back side windows, and the tops, I'll be filling up the back with Jeep parts rather than camping gear, luggage, groceries etc. I take friends in the back seat and need the cargo space for cargo, not jeep parts. So to be able to open the top without taking up cargo space is a bonus.
All my life I have been willing to work all day to avoid a 5 minute repetitive task. And its true I'm getting more decrepit too!
Might as well get the vehicle according to how I need to use it. Whats another few thou if I'm enjoying it for a decade or more?
I will order my new JL when the top becomes available.
