Hello folks - I am new to this forum- forgive me if this is a stupid question, but do the side mirrors on the JL fold? I have tried to push on them but I fear they will break-or so it looks like. There is nothing in the manual about them folding and google search did not turn up anything about the JL.

Thanks in advance.

Yes they fold. I’ve had mine folded in.

I was trying to pull it towards the window while seated behind the wheel. Then I tried to push it from outside but either way, it appeared that I may break something if I push any harder.

Facing the driver's side of the car, rotate counterclockwise to fold them in--which they absolutely will do. Of course reverse to open them.

Often I find myself parking on narrow streets and effect this action, which will stubbornly happen but not break anything, to prevent passing motorists from hitting the mirror.

like this. put a hand on each side to rotate it...less pushing...more rotation.

Aha... so exactly the opposite of what I was trying to do. The mirror folds away rather in... I had never seen that and I wonder why the manual doesn't mention anything about it. Thanks! I learned I something new!!

The mirrors on the JL should fold in as well. It looks like they will go either way. Folding them in will protect them when you take the doors off. Try doing it from outside of the Jeep.

Yes-I just tried it both ways. But, one thing that is for sure, as you mentioned, more rotation than pushing/pulling. It's easier to do it from the outside using both hands.

Thanks everyone :)

Is it a lift up to get it over a catch and twist, or just a hard twist?

I'm often occupied, by many things, often at the same time
No offense meant, but sometimes reading posts on a forum can be very entertaining/funny. Sometimes there is so much that goes into so little.
