If your like me and want a JL but don't need the bells and whistles of the Rubicon but want more than the sport could offer. And if no, why?

We call the Sahara a pretty boys Jeep. Just about as expensive as Rubicon but no mechanical upgrades. I've said ever since the JK was released that they didn't even need too make a 2 door Sahara. All the pretty boys here buy 4 doors.

I think the Sahara model should be put to rest completely. They have pretty much ruined it over the past 10 years.

If they plan on keeping it around they should rename it the Wrangler Canyonero F-Series and replace the cigarette lighter with a lipstick holder.

You say bells and whistles of a Rubicon, but want a Sahara? Im confused lol

You do understand Sahara is the "bells and whistles" jeep, Rubicon is all about capability (sure it comes with some bells, but generally speaking the Sahara is the "luxury option" for Wrangler

I guess market research suggests the Sahara 2 door model just wasnt a good seller because most folks that wanted one went for the 4 door well over the majority of the time.

It's all about what makes money, there must have not been enough interest in the JK 2 door Sahara to make it worth continuing.
Except they sold about 50% more 2Dr Saharas than the 2Dr Rubicons, so there was definitely interest, it’s just that it’d be harder to cancel the 2Dr Rubicon without greater backlash.

Why didn't they name it after an American desert? :)

I think this way it cleans up the brand a little bit. The Luxury SUV is clearly the 4-door Sahara.

The 2-door Sahara buyer can either be coaxed into a 2-door Rubicon or a 4-Door Sahara.

That being said, I would have no problem if they offered the 2-door Sahara so people can get what they want.

While freeing up the space in the 2 door line up, they could have added something similar to the Willys as a 2 door exclusive.

I expect they will at some point. Willys is based on Sport. They have also done special editions based on the Sport with body-colored fenders in the past (like the Freedom Edition) and I think that would be popular.

Jeep is only going to supply what will sell in numbers otherwise the price goes up. The 4 door has taken over the 2 door market which leaves the 2 door sport for entry into Wrangler ownership and the Rubicon for the person who wants a toy that will do more than a basic Jeep.
