Should I worry about W12 clutch recall??

Just purchased a brand new 2020 JLU Sport May 30th. Should I be worried about the w12 clutch recall?? Nobody at the dealership told me anything about it

The clutch recall is mainly for the 2018 model. I don't think your 2020 falls under that recall.

I typed in my VIN on Mopars web page and it says that it does fall on the w12 recall

It is for every JL manual up until Feb 22 when they stopped making them until last month.

There are two huge threads on this, the before fix and after fix. Please don't start yet another thread of the same thing.

Does it state whether that recall is completed or outstanding? I can't imagine they would sell you a JL with outstanding recalls.

Sure be concerned about it IF your particular JL is affected. Go here and type in your Vin# and it will tell you any recalls that affect YOUR particular Jeep. https://www.mopar.com/en-us/my-vehicle/recalls/search.html

You should raise holy hell with your dealer. I thought that all manual Jeeps were under a ”do not sell’ order from FCA (that may have expired by now since a fix has been identified) and I also thought, perhaps incorrectly, that it is illegal for a dealer to sell a NEW vehicle that has an un-repaired safety recall.

call your dealer and start having a very candid conversation. Perhaps they will tell you that they have already fixed it. Or they will just dance. Then, If they start to dance, have them conference call in the Regional FCA rep.

If they fix the recall under FCA notice they can sell it and probably aren't required to notify the buyer depending on state law.

I purchased my 2020 Manual on May 19th and it was also part of the recall. Dealer did the test, installed the extra sheath around the tube, and that was that.

Also, if recall is done / fixed by the dealer the website I gave a link to, when you type in the Vin# of your Jeep, will display any and all recalls done on that particular Jeep by a Jeep Dealership's Service Department.

Not true. 2020 models are being recalled through April builds I believe. They didn’t identify the fix until this time.

I just looked and it does say completed. So that means they fixed the issue?

Absolutely not. I just had them take a look at mine. It took them 30 mins including the oil change and tire rotation. They did put a sleeve around the wires, or something? But it was nothing. It was running just fine, and I have 15K miles...no slipping, squeaking, ticking or anything I have read in here. I’ve driven manual trans since I was 16. This might be the best of them all. And I love my ‘19 JLUS. You have nothing to worry about.

I have a 2019 and just had the W12 recall done. Nothing bad except for the techs wearing their greasy clothes and boots in the Jeep that I had to give the interior a full detail to get rid of a strong oil smell. Letting it air out for a few days did nothing.
