Had lift and 37s on for almost 2 months. Tazer installed, still maintaining 22-23 MPG, which im happy with. I’m wanting to tow a small camper. 3000# dry weight. Still in stock 3.73 gears. Should I regear? If so, what to? What are advantages to regearing? I know lots of us on here haven’t done so with diesels and 37s, but I’m wanting to make sure my JL has no issues towing. Thanks.

Everyone is different. Tow your trailer and find out how you like it.
I currently have 35’s and tow #3500 with the stock 3.73’s. It’s good.
With the stock 33’s it was better. Lost 3 to 5 MPG towing or not.
Power loss while towing is noticeable when pulling a grade. Stock, it basically would never downshift. With 35’s to maintain the same speed up a grade it will downshift to 7th sometimes 6th. We have some pretty steep grades in CA.

37’s 4.10 would be my gear choice when towing.

I live in Texas. Relatively flat. May make some trips up in Oklahoma in the moutains or Arkansas. Not sure what I want to do. I’m curious the cost to regear. Not something I’d want to do myself.

I’m on 40s and went to 4.88. I would regear to 4.56 for 37s. You can easily forget what the power is supposed to feel like if you drive it a while on stock gearing like you have. You won’t regret it. Costs $1400 in Riverside, Ca.
