I know this has been discussed but ready to pull the trigger on a lift and tires. I have some concerns though. I have a 2020 Willys with 6 speed manual and 3.45 gears. As most of you know the Willys came with 32 inch mud tires from factory. The 5th and 6th gear are really close together. I live in the mountains of western North Carolina and it is hilly. I run in 5th gear a lot climbing hills on the interstate. I want to do a Mopar 2 inch lift and either 315/70/17 or 35/12.5/17. These will be mounted on the factory 7.5 inch wheels for now. I dont have the money to rehear right now. Just enough for lift and tires. Is it a mistake to lift and go 35's with manual and 3.45 gears? Should I stay with it factory setup for now? How bad is it going to be power wise? It's my daily driver. 20 miles round trip to work. I will also be off roading 2-3 times a month. Mainly light to medium wheeling. Thanks, in advance for your help.

It's gonna be a dog in the mountains, hard on the clutch also. I spend a few weeks a year up there in Waynesville. 4.88s make it bearable. Wait and do gears and lift all at once.

No not really. I just like the look mainly.
Just asking because there's a price associated with a lift/big tires that goes beyond just the original purchase/installation. The fuel economy will take a dive. The performance too. Then there's the cornering/handling. Potentially, the life of the U-joints in the driveshafts are affected and ride quality could get worse. I looked into a lift and 35s and decided to stick with the Rubicon as is.

If you're set on doing it, Rubicon take-off suspension and wheels/tires are the best bargain going, if money is a consideration. I would guess you can get all the suspension and wheels/tires for $800-1000.

The Willys actually comes with Rubicon suspension, heavy duty brakes and Rubicon style wheels and 32 inch mud tires. I need the gearing.

Id do what was stated above. Rubicon springs for more lift and 33s or regear and go to 35s

my jeep : 2dr sport manual.

I put 35s on stock (had the tires before jeep and knew i wanted 35s)
It sucked like everyone said so I geared to 4.56, made it amazing.

then I did rubi suspension for 1.5” lift roughly with mopar LCA and it drove perfect like this with gears lift and 35s

Now I have the 2.5” aev lift and its also good.

but yeah, manual and 35s on 3.45 is pretty bad. Its okay for on street, but say goodbye too 6th gear

As you have found your gearing is marginal as it is with 32" tires. You will definitely want more gear if you go to taller tires.

It seems okay now. I really dont use 6th gear until I'm at 70mph or higher. I'm trying to decide if I should buy a Dana 44 axle with 4.88 gears already in them or just regear mine.
