I agree.. I had figured some forum goer that actually has a JLU would have, at least out of curiosity even, gone out and looked to see if their JLU had the same hole.. Would only take them a couple of minutes. Unfortunately, I guess most here are takers versus givers.

Now, if I were the guy with the hole in my JLU muffler, I would find out for sure. I doubt that hole is found on other new JLU's. If no hole in other JLU mufflers I can tell you, the dealer would be replacing that muffler. No way would a dealer tell me to pound sand on something like that. Sure the hole can be dealt with .. as in patched... but .....

I'm having a hard time seeing a hole in your photo. Is the hole near or at were the muffler is welded to the muffler bracket?
Here is a picture of mine. There is no hole.

Looks like the half of the bracket that is closer to the rear of the jeep is missing or not connected to me. not normal.

Is that really a hole? Can you poke a small screwdriver in there? That spot is where the end cap is crimped onto the muffler can. Multiple layers of steel in there. Here's two pics of mine.

I had a car that had one at the bottom. I tried to repair it, and realized later it was a "weep hole" for moisture to escape. That being said, it was at the bottom of the muffler.
A hole in a brand new muffler doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Ok guys first of all, I appreciate all your comments and support. This makes me appreciate being part of this awesome forum and Jeep community as a whole. I went ahead and had the Jeep running for a while and noticed that it wasn’t a hole. Thanks to your pics I was able to see if mine in fact had that little metal tube holding it and in fact it did and the hole was never there..
My theory is that I might’ve noticed the “leak” after a rainy day or after I had gotten a wash and it was just water dripping from the upper frames or car as a whole. I have attached closer pics and also shared another displaying the small weep hole on the bottom

Good news, jroman!

Curious am I the only guy that spay paints his rear muffler black? I have done so with every Wrangler I have ever owned. I just don't like looking at the tail end of a Wrangler and seeing that somewhat bright/shiney muffler displaying itself there.

Sounds like a good idea actually ; was actually looking at mufflers today on the Northridge website, and black definitely looks better than raw metal...

In regard to the paint.. you really don't need anything like "High heat" paint as the muffler really does not get very hot.

I usually spray say once in the Spring and once in the Fall. Keeps it fresh. Anyway, I have used everything from Rust-Oleum Black to Krylon Spray and other cheapie paint,.. I just use what I have around that is black. I also spray the tail pipe piece coming off the back of the muffler. Keeps all decent looking and rust hidden.... AND no more bright, shiney muffler displaying back there.

Also... I never find the paint peeling. It fades over time , gets dirty and that is why I do bi yearly refresh of the paint.
