Just wanted to hear some input on this. I have a 3" Zone lift kit with Fox 2.0 Shocks that are compatible for 2-3 inch lift. I cant spare the time for servicing and don't know where to get it done locally anyway so I'm buying all new shocks to put on and will service the Fox shocks later when I can figure it out and keep as a spare set. Question is... I see shocks that are compatible for 3-5 inches of lift, 3-4 inches, 2-3 inches, you get the point.... Is it better to go with shocks that are 3" or a minimum of 3" lift, than to go with a 2-3inch shock again?? Specifically, I'm looking at Bilstein 5100 for their price point, decent quality, and they are 3-4.5inch shocks. My jeep is kind of a weekend warrior, very capable and lots of fun when I can get out, but sits in the driveway alot and sees more pavement than dirt. Stupid work and responsibilities.

Tried to use the search function before posting this and couldnt find anything relevant. Well, I found one singular comment in a thread that wanted me to measure stuff and while it was clear and concise and something I will do, I'm not able to go outside and do that right now so just looking for anyone else to chime in. Thanks!

What you need to focus on are the extended and collapsed lengths of the shocks. You've already noted the overlap in advertised compatibility, and that is further complicated by different manufacturers providing different length shocks for the same advertised lift heights...

Shock surplus has a good guide for sizing, at least on the Bilsteins.

Go to rockauto.com. Rancho RS7066 and RS7065 monotube shocks on closeout dirt cheap. They are for a 3.5" lift. I am running the longer version on mine. Compared to the factory Rubi shocks and the lift kit Fox's, these are superior in every meaningful way.

Since you are just replacing shocks, this article may be very helpful to get you exactly what you need. https://accutuneoffroad.com/articles/how-to-measure-for-jeep-shocks/

They are cheaper and good for highway but that’s about it. They rust and are not rebuild able.
