I'm pretty sure all diesels came with the rubicon width housings and steel knuckles so unless you're getting rubicon axles free you'd be better off regearing and adding lockers if you want them. A regear with electric lockers front and rear will likely run you between $4-5k, which is likely what you'd pay just to buy rubicon axles. No experience with SoCal shops.

A lot of diesels came with aluminum knuckles. At least in the JL. I'm not sure about JTs.

Of course the op asked about rubicon axles, which the non xrs also come with aluminum knuckles so they wouldn't be an upgrade over what he's got anyway.

Going back to your first post, I believe non-rubicon diesels got narrow axles, even though they were M210/M220.

So, he may get some width. And maybe 4.10s if they're not from a diesel or 392. That's about it.

Still doesn't seem worth it, especially asking about prices for the axle swap at a shop. If you scored cheap rubi axles and did the swap yourself you could end up pretty close to the price of a regear. Buying and paying for labor seems ineffective.

Well, he would also be getting lockers.

Still, not worth paying a shop to do it for me.

Do you have the axles already and a garage? If so, there are enough of us here in socal that can come help you swap them.

I don't have the axles yet. I do have a garage but don't have all the tools need. It would be great to have some help. Beers and foods on me.

DM when you get the axles. Do you know which components they are including? Brake assemblies, axle shafts, tie rods, etc.?

I benefit that i am looking for is to get 4.10 gear and locker. The width would be a great plus too. I believe that 4.10 would be good for 37's on the diesel. If i was to go high I would be looking at a regear and locker option for about 4k to5K. Trying to save a buck and hopefully selling the stock axles. Thank you all your replies
