Hello everyone, I recently started experiencing these issues within the past couple of weeks. I have a brand new 2018 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited, only 3K miles since mid March, with the Alpine 8.4" screen system. Everything had been working exactly as it should until the past couple of weeks.
Seemingly every time I start up the car the UConnect system starts up, shows the Jeep logo and disclaimer prompts, then typically freezes either after the audio kicks in or when I put the shift in reverse and the rear camera turns on. If the screen freezes, the only way to get out of it is to turn the car off, wait for it to fully power down, open the door, then start the engine again to hopefully get it to reboot. Sometimes the screen will just go straight to a blue screen on startup.
The missing Favorite Artists / Tracks issue has also been driving me nuts. Whether the notifications are set to visual only or visual plus audio, the notification box at the top of the screen pops up for maybe a second or two and quickly disappears. Pulling up the Browse > Favorites list shows nothing on air, even when a favorite artist is currently on air.
I've tried Sirius customer service and the best they could do is a signal refresh (which solved nothing). I've called UConnect directly and the reps can only attempt a soft reset over the phone but that also doesn't seem to fix anything. I took it to a local dealer (not the one I purchased from) this past Saturday morning and they couldn't figure it out either, stating the car was still too new and nothing had been reported yet. They used a USB flash drive to soft re-install the UConnect software, and that seemed to work for a couple of days, but the issues came right back last night.
I'm at my wit's end with this stuff. It's making me feel like I bought a lemon, but seeing a few other similar posts here make me think its a UConnect specific issue, but one they either have no awareness of, or are staying quiet about while they attempt to find a fix and roll out a patch. In either scenario its highly infuriating to not have any straightforward communication / answers from them other than "take it to the dealer." I did that and the dealer was no help. So now what?
Sorry for the long rant. Just needed an outlet. Hopefully others can chime in and share their frustrations and maybe we can all problem solve together.
