I think for me, if the difference is only 2% then i would rather order here in Phoenix, instead of ordering across the country and having to drive the new JL all the way back to Gilbert.

You're right. I talk a big game, but the JL is not an ideal road trip vehicle, and I'd avoid a remote pickup unless the payoff was very substantial. That said, my "come to Phx or LV" would have saved roughly 10%: sticker vs 5% under invoice. That's about $5K. I suspect that instant gratification was the motivator here. Which I certainly understand - been there.

Bottom line is, Do you settle for what is on a dealer's lot or chased down precisely what you want...and how bad do you want it. Discounted price or not, you're gonn'a be stuck with this vehicle for a long time or take a blood bath on depreciation trading early because ya' hate it, then be out on the hunt again in a year.

In my case, the hunt, the painless purchase for what we wanted, and a super cool road trip home seeing sights I've never seen, driving for MILES on South Texas beaches in a brand new frigg'n diesel JL and MUCH more, was priceless. JMO...

$5K is allot! Thats more than 1% or 2%! I do plan on driving to Alaska and every other state in the diesel Rubicon that i will get, but i dont know if its a good idea to drive a brand new vehicle without break-in or any testing across the country! I would want to inspect every fuse, every cable harness etc.. Change the oil to a good oil brand etc...

Then there is the issue that all the good colors are gone.. And they are not hinting to release Gecko, Hyper Green or any amazing color like Rescue Green etc... Sarge Green is the only one i could see my self ordering!

You were able to order a 2021 diesel? Thats good news if you did. A few of us have been waiting for the the diesel orders to open up.

No, to clarify for the thread. We had a discrepancy on the order and by the time we got it sorted out the order window for 2020 was closed. I am waiting on an updated quote for a 2021, same specs, and will order as soon as that window opens. hopefully next week.

Sticker. Invoice is a moving target that I never could get a straight answer on. Sales folk out and out lie about it.

My sales guy thinks that the diesel order banks will open in August with up to a three month wait for delivery. Given our environment, and Jeep's history so far with diesel production, I can't disagree with his assessment.

I bought my 2020 3.0 a week ago. It was the first one that dealership had received and the only Granite one within 5 hours of my home. Travel isn't an issue for me but none of the dealerships I spoke with were willing to deal much. I think I ended up around 4% off sticker after some dealing. No trade. Got about 430 miles on the first tank or just under 30mpg.

Even in PNW they are scarce, When I picked up mine it was the only diesel Sahara within a 500 mile radius. I was going to order one and it would have taken up to 6 month. Luckily someone else did order theirs and then COVID hit. I got all the options I wanted and then some except for the color. he Dealer I went to was just happy to get rid of it since their lot was full with lease returns.
