The plan is to make it very Offroad capable.
Understand that... I pulled a trailer behind my HUMMVEE..... I understand what it is like trying to navigate tough tight roads and tight trails with a trailer..... just not sure if that is something I would want to do..... It looks nice and it is something i have often debated just not sure..... :like:

To my eye, the JT bed looks to set the axle too far forward to be well balanced for trailer use. Though, you could bias weight toward the trailer tongue. Locating a water tank in the alcove at the front of the bed might be a good solution.

I wouldn’t give up on the aluminum frame idea just yet - if you spit in oilfield country you’ll hit a welder
I would just add an extended tongue with storage deck on front.

Are those the taillight enclosures for the ones on the safety system? don't think so, but If so, sell them and replace and you might recap a good bit of cost

This will be cool to watch. I started a similar project back when I had an XJ. Got a great deal on the back half of a Comanche with a D44 under it. Had many of the same ideas such as using the fuel tank for water storage and the axle for trail spares. When it came down to it though, I ended up custom ordering a matching width trailer axle for it. It was leaf spring though, so kind of a different animal. Good luck!

I guess I don't know what you mean here? Can you elaborate?

He means find out if those tail lights have the side monitoring sensors in them and sell them if they do. Then buy tail lights with out the sensors.

Ah. Okay. Didn’t see an indication of that but I’ll look. I think they are standard stock halogen. I’m still getting used to figuring out some differences between the JLU and JT. The bumper didn’t have any sensors if that is a sign.

Well I got it home. Super happy. Great condition. Only a couple little nicks on it. It’s a lot lighter than I thought it would be. I’m not near as concerned about the CG and axle placement now.

Back up camera will def be operational. I already have a Rock cam installed up front and utilize the cargo camera option. I will put in a splice or switch to utilize that connection for the trailer when in use.

To me they look like the non-sensor ones, bummer. Someone on here got a parts quote for one and it was over 5 bills.

Good Lord. Figures though. I just want to add LED tails to it.

Just make sure your bed came from a truck without front camera. Somehow back cameras are different and not compatible between trucks with and without trail cam.
