97 mph Vehicle Max Speed Calibration - This appeared on my build sheet. Not wanting to start a "you shouldn't go that fast in a wrangler" type discussion...am I correct in assuming that this vehicle is electronically governed to a max of 97 mph? This is my second factory ordered Rubicon and I dont recall this on my JK......

The ECM limits the speed to 97 mph on my JLURD. I assume this is due to the the speed rating on the tires and the high speed handling characteristics. My JKR with the old 3.8 L would top out at 107 mph.

Mine is limited to 97 also. Not a pleasant speed to be at in a 2 door with MT tires. By contrast, my ā€˜88 YJ would only do 80 with my foot to the floor with a 4.2 carbed six and a 3 speed auto. That was with no electronic meddling.

On my 2021 JLUR is limited to 97mph but I have 37inch tires. But when I had my 2020 JLU Sport my Jeep would go over 100 on stock tires. Idk if its something related to the gear differentials or just computer.

I had an red YJ 4 cylinder I bought after a deployment. That thing was great poking around the desert around 29 Palms in the early 90's, but it wasn't a powerhouse. I was just curious when I saw this. I'm getting the 3.6 with an auto (First auto in a wrangler for me).

Do like I did with my minibike as a kid and pop that governor off! Don't let the man keep you down!
Lol, it's not a physical device. And as far as I know nobody had hacked the code well enough to disable it, not that any sane company would because of liabilities and lawsuits.

Headed out West shortly after buying our 2-door TJ and noticed the manual said you couldn't set the cruise above 85mph. We found that amusing until we got to West TX....
