Sahara grille inserts (painting different color)

Well, two years ago, I did the grille work for my Sahara (see page 2 of this thread). A couple days ago I traded her in for an Ecodiesel Rubi in Bikini, but I decided to still go with the red to keep with the trim color. Here's some before and after pics of "Pole Dancer"

I ordered new ones, took my time painting them correctly, and then swapped them out. I can't imagine a way to not remove them to paint the inserts.

I have a 2020 rubicon recon..white with gloss black grill..I purchased a standard rubicon grill in white used, and I noticed the headlight bezels are different..the rubicon has a broader curved lip and the 2nd grill has a flat bezel lip..
I want the white grill to get a set of matte black bezels of the broader version..as well as the 7 grill insetrs in black..
Who sells these??

These come in matt black and installed in place of the silver bezels on my Sahara. Not sure if it is the same or will work in your application. But worth a look:

Thank you for link...by the picture that bezel has a thin flat lip at edge..one of those not recognized changes that jeep has..the rubicon has a slightly higher gauge plastic wall with a rounded edge..still seeking..

You always sand before painting, can use green scotch pad.
I think dark colors with silver look classy, while white just does not look right with silver. Since I had light front damage, I got used Rubicon grill and bumper for $100 each. White just asking for contrast.

I sprayed the grille and fog light surrounds with Plasti Dip. I haven't seen this done yet but I thought I would be different and get that throwback TJ style look integrated by leaving the headlight section untouched. Thanks for all the examples and write ups on how to do this!

I had my JLU Sahara 3 hours and had that grill in pieces. I just do not like silver plastic on jeeps. I also did my Jeep and sahara badges, door lock keyholes, antenna and stock wheels. Like others i could not figure out how to get the bumper inserts out so I masked those. I used black plastidip. I did the same on my '15 JKU and it lasted until I traded it in without issue.

On the badges picture that was before i took the toothpick to get the dip out of the insides of the letters. it is now gone.

What kind of black did you use? How is it holding up today?

Does plasti dip last for long time. Or is painting them something you need to every year or so?

I did not sand at all. It looks perfectly fine. I didn't even know about sanding when I did mine...

Finally got around to doing this, also added the Gladiator grill... very happy with the results!

I used an Anthracite plasti-dip
