Sahara grille inserts (painting different color)

I tested a few items and settled on engine paint. It had a metallic look and I liked the dark grey. 2 months and several car washes later - no chips or flaking. (Oh, and I tinted the turn signals. Much cleaner look)

How did you get the bumper inserts out? If you don’t mind me asking.
I went ahead and taped them off. Used gecko tape and took my time. No issues getting it clean and no overspray or missed areas.

How did you get the bumper inserts out? If you don’t mind me asking.
Geoff, remove the plastic cover behind the bumper on each side, remove the screw that secures the insert, now you can pry off the insert with a flat plastic pry tool. Start at the end of the bumper and work your way to the center. Hope this helps.

Geoff, remove the plastic cover behind the bumper on each side, remove the screw that secures the insert, now you can pry off the insert with a flat plastic pry tool. Start at the end of the bumper and work your way to the center. Hope this helps.

Same grey charcoal color. The lighting makes it look black, but it’s actually grey. I like the subtle but defined look.
