Finally decided I couldn’t stand for the silver trim anymore. Hard to this this to a brand new car. Oh well..

Turned out well. We’ll see about durability as time goes.

I’ll probably want to do this on my inserts. Did you replace them or paint?

I’m too impatient, so I painted them flat black myself. Drying overnight and will be reinstalling tomorrow.

Can you give some details on the exact paint and materials used and post some pictures as well... I have wanted to do the same thing on my Sahara

We have a red Sahara and would like to get rid of the silver inserts. Are the inserts and the black mesh attached to each other or can I simply remove the silver inserts and re install the black honeycomb portion of the grill?

The silver trim and black mesh are separate pieces. I reinstalled the black mesh while I was painting the trim. Grille comes off just like the JK. On the back side on the grille there are 8(T15) screws and many, many plastic clips. Be very careful with all the plastic clips

So I can take the silver inserts out and then it looks like the grill in a sport? The red paint should have any residual scratches from the inserts or anything like that? New to the Jeep game, apologize for the amatuer hour questions.

Not quite. There are small voids near the top and bottom of the slots after you remove the trim. Looks unfinished, but still affective at protecting the radiator.

Looks great. Mine is a firecracker red sahara and I don’t like the look of the silver trim at all.

Used as directed on the can. Holding up well. Have been through a couple pressure washes. Looks like day 1.
