Noticed any real noise difference w/o the silencer pad?
Honestly, no. The only thing I see this used for is for draining underneath the fake vents on the Rubicon. Once you cut that out for the S&B scoops, they have no purpose! The pad is as brittle as a potato chip and discolors. Looks much cleaner with it gone to recycling!

Dave, I’ll go take a photo and show you the hoses I added and how much better it looks without the pad.

Nice work. You have part numbers or Amazon links or anything like that for what you used?
Thanks!

The hoses did not come with the scoops...however, it's just simple Home Depot stuff:

The little round "dudes" are 1/8" plexiglass (I had them from another project but you can use whatever shape or thickness you like.

The elbows are cheap plastic 1/4" PVC hose elbows from the plumbing department.

The hose is just a length of clear plastic hose (fits the elbow of your choice) from the plumbing department.

Screws are 3/4" wood screws (pilot hoses drilled first).

The hoses simply are inserted into the hollow hood seals on your hood already. The nice thing is they drain out in the back of the fender right on the ground!!!

Just drill out the plexi and glue in the elbow. Silicone around the plexi/elbow when you screw it to the scoop underside.

Nothing to it, less than $10.00 in parts and just a fun little project to do.

The two circular lights that you may have noticed are from KC called cyclones and they are very bright and really light up under the hood at night. They're just wired on a toggle switch under the hood so you can turn them on/off if you have the hood open.

Have fun in your garage!

It’s been a while since these posts, curious about how you all are liking your scoops, almost a year later?

I just ordered the scoops + an S&B cold air intake (arriving Saturday) but not 100% sure about the scoops yet. I think they look kinda cool but water is a concern (living in Florida).

We're still running them on that red JL here in rainy WA. Only putting the block off plates in place if it is an absolute downpour.

Have not seen any water in the airbox.

They do have a pretty cool water drainage system on the scoop that feeds the airbox.

It says for the 2.0 and 3.6, will these work on the diesels?

While I'm still a little on the fence about the looks, I went ahead and installed the scoops (scoops only) to see if they provided any noticeable cooling effect. I ordered a new silencer pad for around $30, so I can always go back to stock if I want to.

I've had them on for about two days in 95 degree GA weather with 10,000% humidity. I haven't really noticed a difference in the temp readout on the display, but one thing I have definitely noticed is that my loudass fan almost never comes on anymore. I don't think I've heard it since I put the scoops on. And I'm a frequent windows down, no AC guy, so I always hear that damn Boeing-sourced fan spooling up for takeoff.

I'll go a few more days and see if the fan use is indeed reduced, and will see how they do in rain.

I’m sure the hood is the same and the intake is definitely NOT.

So yes the hood scoops will work. Although the intake will not (at least until they make a Diesel specific one that plays with these scoops)
