Hello all,
I am seriously considering the Rusty's Tire mount/hinge replacement.(hopefully that will make third time the charm)
Question for those who have experience with it - how much higher than stock can the tire mount?
I ask because I have a Rockhard 4x4 rear bumper. It's a great bumper, but it does not have a tire cutout. I knew that when buying which is why it took me so long to pull that trigger haha.
I tried a Teraflex Alpha - NO GO. Not even the stock tire fit.
I now have the Rough Country relocation bracket which raises the stock carrier 4.75". This is working fine, but it seems like it is def. moving more and making more noise. The rear glass is squeaking much more than it used to now after this past weekend's Jamboree. And there are plans for 35's in the hopefully near future.
(I also have a Molle rack attached to the inside of the tailgate) Pretty light, and hardly any weight to the stuff I am storing there, but still it added a little weight.
So to sum it up because this is getting very long winded. My tire carrier now is 4.75" higher than stock, and it looks like a 35 would clear the bumper. So I need the Rusty's carrier to be at least that for all this to come together.
I did call them and they said about 6" higher at the max setting, but after looking at more pics here and other places I am starting to wonder if they misunderstood me. (they were very pleasant and helpful on the phone by the way which is a great start)
Thanks for reading all this!
