Can you run the Falcon 2.1 2-3.5" lift shocks on a JLUR that has no lift and is running 35s? I only ask because I picked up a set of these for cheap (new open box) and would like to run them at first on the rubicon with no lift. If there are dangers in doing this, what are they and how can those dangers be avoided? Thanks.

Your shocks will be extremely compressed if they even fit. You would lose basically all of your up-travel.

A few guys here have put the Fox 2.0’s but most of them end up lifting with some sort of kit. I think we’re about the only ones that’s aren’t lifting.

I just really don't understand why you are trying to do this? I feel like the Rubi suspension is good enough that it only warrants upgrading to something like a falcon 3.1+, in which case you might as well just do an entire lift. I guess stiffer shocks can help with weight, but added spring height can as well. What is the rationale behind only doing shocks (especially with shocks that probably aren't much better)?

I mean, fair enough. If you want it to ride better would replacing the springs not help as well? Something with a better spring rate (or dual rate) to match your needs?

I'm currently running the 0-1.5" version of the Falcon 2.1 shocks. With plans to lift the springs 1.5" and keep the shocks.

most definitely.

i didnt want to clutter up a shock discussion with spring questions.

honestly, i need to find the sack to cut up what i need to install some ORIs, those have been my favorite so far.

Here are the specs on the 2-3.5 Falcon 2.1s

Front - 17.9 x 27.6
Rear - 18.9 x 28.5

I measured some stock Rubicon shocks I have here and they are 23.5" extended on the front and 26" extended on the rear for comparison.

The short answer is that they will be too long.

It grew on me the more I drove it.
Right after the swap I can definitely feel how stiff it was going over bumps on road. My butt wasn't liking it.
But then I warmed up more to it after seeing how much less body rolls I had going into turns.
I could take turns at much higher speed without feeling loss of control, which is great!
Then I took it off-road! Hitting bumps/potholes at higher speed was both confident and satisfying. The amount of control I had over stock was incredible. I had so much confidence hitting that gas pedal in places where I would normally hit the brakes instead.

I have since then installed sway bar disconnect links, and will be pairing the shocks with softer synergy springs to see how well they handle.

P.S. @MORTON @RagTopDeluxe I remembered you asked me report back on how they ride after some periods of testing.
