Man, looking at some of the photos with half doors, everyone's Jeep looks so good.

I did search this forum and was just curious, why the heck doesn't Jeep offer half doors as a post-purchase order? It's a shame, it's out of my price range right now but dang I would definitely save up to eventually get them if it were an option to do.

The doors off doesnā€™t bother me, but I also had my motorcycle license at 16 before my car license. Iā€™m now 48 and still ride.
id say itā€™s just because youā€™re used to being locked in your cage. Get your bike license, the Jeep feels huge in comparison.

Iā€™m gonna run doorless and topless all week. Letā€™s see how it goes.

Does anyone with a 4 door run doorless with just the front two doors off? Does it create some type of weird wind tunnel or anything? It's just me solo and I'd like to get some tube doors eventually since the half doors are just way out of my price range and tough to find. I figure since 99% of the time its just me driving solo in the Jeep I could just get two tube doors instead of four and leave the back doors on.

i ran mine at the beach for a week with the front doors off, and soft top all the way down. I didnt notice anything weird with regards to the wind. I never was over 55 mph though. Low speeds was fine.

Although it is nice to run topless and doorless around town every now and then. All cars used to be doorless/topless back in the day. They got doors and tops for a reason.

I take doors off top off and go for an entire week, sometime two weeks. Never highway speeds though. Eventually I get sick of it and the doors and top go back on.

It's either hard top/full doors or soft top/half doors for me. Don't like being doorless. But, I do pull the upper doors off the half doors and unzip the windows leaving the top as a "Safari" top. I want the shade. SoCal heat is too brutal for me. Lol. The plus side is, if you need to take a trip on the freeway, you can put the windows in and uppers on pretty quickly.

Hopefully my 2 door Sport will be here in July. Trying to prepare my wife for no doors or top. What's the wind like in a 2 door JL with no top or doors? Does the wind come strong from the side or the back?

I am a doctor, so I go in tech slacks and a polyester button down shirt, short sleeves if possible. Plus I do shave my head. The heat doesnā€™t bother me. Plus, I work about 1.5 miles from home so the drive is very short anyway, all surface streets, generally 35mph max.

But something just didnā€™t ā€œfeel rightā€ today. Somehow the jeep felt ā€œnarrowā€ and, I didnā€™t feel as comfortable as I usually do. Iā€™ll give it more time, but I really do prefer the doors on so far.
i drove an hour with top down and doors off on the freeway today. i agree, jeep feels more narrow (not that i mind). it was a windy day and i lost the sunglasses off my face. it definitely wasnā€™t comfortable and probably wonā€™t do again unless driving the couple miles to work. that being said, i drive top down and doors off every chance i can around town! so easy to take the doors off and hang them up. i think i just really love the versatility of options the wrangler gives us.

Ran doorless yesterday and it was awesome. Ran doorless today and not so much. Strong gusty wind out of the south really ruined the experience. If the day is basically calm, itā€™s great. Windy days suck ass! Thatā€™s my experience.

This was my first configuration, and I recommend to ensure the weather is above 70, no rain and preferably no highway speeds unless with friends or a short period of time, like a week or so.

I thought it was just me!!!

I run my Jeep topless/doorless Spring-Fall (usually Easterish through Thanksgivingish)

I drove my TJ like this for 17 years. I got my JL last year, BUT.....added an Alien Sunshade.

This past 2mos or so have really gotten my attention. Wind so much from the side, I thought it was going to rupture my eardrum. I was really thinking it was the Alien Sunshade.....maybe it's just the design. This is on 55mph roads, not the interstate.

Don't get me wrong, I love driving like this and will continue to do so, but I might have to start using earplugs like I used to on the highway.

I'm digging this up from the depths of last year...

UPDATE!
Last year, topless/doorless was starting to borderline torture in regards to the wind coming into the cab and beating me up.

HOWEVER!.....this year I started off without the Aliengear Sunshade.

Ladies, and Gentlemen - the difference is night and day. In my experience, running with the sunshade basically directs the wind into almost a direct shot into the cab. It is now back comparable to my TJ when running without the sunshade

I love doors/top off.. city.. highway.. doesn't matter to me.. I love it.. I run top off and doors off with Alien Shades all the time and I don't have an issue.. I did notice some wind last time cuz it was a breezy day and was down by lake St. Clair.. but it doesn't bother me.. when it gets windy I just take it as part of the naked experience.. lol..

I'm doorless and topless probably 8 months out of the year. I do have the mesh Bimini top for a little sun protection, but I love the naked experience. Even at highway speeds, I find it exhilarating.šŸ˜
