Hi Fellow JL owners! It seems like the threads and builds are dominated by setups using 37’s instead of 40’s.

Is there a reason not many folks are running 40’s? Guessing it’s the limited selection of lifts over 3” that would make 40’s a more comortable fit but I wasn’t sure. Anxious to get mine built but I’ve been considering 40’s without much intel in this forum or anywhere in general.

Thanks for any available advice!

I think a Rubicon will have no problems with 37’s. But 40’s add a lot more weight and leverage. I just don’t see the stock axles being reliable under hard off roading with 40’s. 40’s would also require a re gear. At least that’s what I determined after I started considering 40’s.

The ones with 40’s do look very good though. And they’d also perform better off roading. So if you want to put Dana 60’s front and rear with 5.38 gears, more power to you. Just too rich for my blood.

Yeah, 1 ton axles and 5.13’s were the plan to go along with the 40’s.

I’ve heard 4.88’s might suffice but two different reputable shops in the area said 5.13’s were the best bet.
